Join our renal pharmacy team to support safe and effective medicines management, improve patient care, and ensure continuity of medication supply for renal patients. You'll work closely with multidisciplinary teams, provide training and support to healthcare staff, undertake dispensing duties, and contribute to service development while maintaining the highest professional standards.

You must be an Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technician or working towards it. You will have an enthusiastic approach to education and training, multidisciplinary team working and a passion for frontline patient care. Full training will be provided on medicines reconciliation and other in house procedures.

The working pattern includes a weekly late night until 6:30, 1 in 8 weekends as per the rota and 1 bank holiday per year.

Main duties of the job
As a Renal Pharmacy Technician, you will work closely with the specialist renal pharmacy team to deliver high-quality medicines management services across renal wards, dialysis units, clinics, home therapies and specialist treatment areas. You will support medicines reconciliation, medication supply, patient counselling and compliance with clinical policies, ensuring safe and effective use of medicines for patients with complex renal needs.

The role includes providing ward-based and dispensary services, undertaking accredited final accuracy checking, supporting staff training and development, participating in audits and service improvement projects, and ensuring compliance with governance, quality and CQC standards. You will also collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, respond to patient and staff enquiries, and contribute to the pharmacy rota, including weekends, bank holidays and late-night services.

Qualifications / Training
Essential

• NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services or equivalent and BTEC in Pharmaceutical science or equivalent
• Registered with GPhC as a technician
• Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technician (ACPT)
• Current, relevant knowledge of hospital pharmacy procedures acquired though training, experience and knowledge
• An accreditation in Medicines Management

Desirable

• National certificate in Medicines Management

Previous Experience

• Appropriate post qualification hospital experience
• Achievement of Knowledge Skills Framework for band 5 post
• Ability to work within clearly defined occupational polices and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
