Job summary
The Pharmacy Department at East Kent Hospital University NHS Foundation Trust are seeking highly motivated pharmacists to join our growing team of specialist clinical rotational pharmacists.

Main duties of the job
We have a structured rotational programme where you will gain experience across our 3 largest hospital sites - The Kent and Canterbury Hospital, the Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Hospital, Margate and the William Harvey Hospital, Ashford. The ELEVATE programme is designed to support and develop pharmacists from Foundation to Advanced level to ensure you are perfectly placed to move forward in your career. Rotations are usually for 9 months and include the areas below but for a full list and further detail please see our handbook or get in touch:
  • Emergency Floor (includes a 7 day clinical service)
  • Acute Frailty
  • Critical Care
  • Education and Training
  • Medication Safety/Governance
  • Medicines Value
  • Oncology
  • Paediatrics
  • Surgery
  • Specialist Medicine e.g. cardiology, renal

Qualifications and training
Essential
  • 4-year Master's degree in Pharmacy from a UK School of Pharmacy or equivalent as recognised by The General Pharmaceutical Council of Great Britain and 1 years Pre- registration training
  • Registered member of The General Pharmaceutical Council of Great Britain
  • Completion of Foundation Stage 1 of the Postgraduate Diploma in General Practice Pharmacy or equivalent demonstrable knowledge gained through a broad spectrum of clinical pharmacy training and experience
Desirable
  • Postgraduate Diploma in General Practice Pharmacy i.e. completion of both Foundation Stage 1 and 2 or equivalent
  • Training and accreditation as a Practice Supervisor an/or Educational Supervisor
  • Registered with GPhC as an Independent Prescriber

Clinical skills and experience
Essential
  • Experience in hospital pharmacy (post registration) showing clinical experience within various environments
  • Understanding of patient safety issues relevant to pharmacy services
Desirable
  • Demonstrate experience in a full range of clinical specialities

Governance
Essential
  • Undertaken audits and shown implementation of results
Desirable
  • Service improvement and change management skills

Personal/professional attributes
Essential
  • Demonstrable evidence of clinical pharmacy experience and further study
  • As a minimum the post holder must demonstrate knowledge of core pharmaceutical needs of patients in various clinical settings
  • Can demonstrate 'usually' or 'consistently' levels of competence for the majority of General/Foundation Level Framework
Desirable
  • Leadership/innovation and motivational skills
  • Teaching and presentation skills
  • UKMI level competencies
