Job summary
Are you a highly skilled, adaptive and enthusiastic Registered Nurse with proven post registration experience, looking for an opportunity to develop your skills, experience, and clinical knowledge across multiple specialities?

This role is only suitable for nurses already registered with the NMC with previous general acute experience.

You are able to request as many or as little of your off duty as you like (typically 70-80% of these will be approved), we want you to thrive in your new role while maintaining a healthy work life balance. Choose your own shifts from available long days and nights. We have an exciting opportunity for you to join the Bures team, a team of experienced professionals who provide vital support across both Colchester and Ipswich hospitals. This dynamic role covers all adult clinical specialities, responding to ward escalation and operational demands to ensure wards and departments receive the support they need when they need it.

This unique position offers you the chance to develop your knowledge, broaden your expertise and gain accelerated experience across multiple specialities, empowering you to thrive in any situation and provide you with a stepping stone to future promotion.

You will be required to attend at recruitment day on 20th July 2026 at Ipswich hospital

Main duties of the job
This role is perfect for someone who is eager to grow, embrace challenges and make a significant impact across the hospital.

You'll receive up to 2 weeks of supernumerary time in areas you may not have worked in before to build your confidence, knowledge and skills.

Areas of specialist training including: respiratory care, emergency care, cardiac care, oncology, care of the elderly, enhanced therapeutic care/mental health

Job responsibilities
  • To meet the needs of the Trust with regard to Induction, mandatory and statutory training
  • To work within the framework for Clinical Governance to provide effective, high quality individualised nursing care to patients and relatives/carers and to contribute to the continuing development of nursing practice.
  • To ensure high standards of patient care at all times, in line with Trust policies and guidelines
  • To work as an effective member of the nursing and wider multi-professional healthcare team
  • To work within the Trusts Competency Framework for Registered Nurses, the Ward/Department Philosophy and the NMC Code of Conduct/ Professional Standards for the Protection of Patients.

Experience
Essential
  • Proven post qualifying experience in an acute setting

Desirable
  • Undertaken preceptorship
  • Experience on a clinical setting

Qualifications

  • NMC Registered Nurse
  • Evidence of continuing professional development.

  • Coaching qualification.
  • Willingness to undertake further education

Knowledge
Essential
  • Knowledge and understanding of evidence-based practice.
  • Understanding and ability to apply clinical governance principles to practice.
  • Knowledge of developments in speciality and current issues driving nursing in general

Desirable
  • Knowledge of developments in speciality and current issues driving nursing in general.
  • Nursing Care of Acutely unwell patients
