Abbeymead Dental Centre
We are looking for an enthusiastic, friendly and motivated individual to join our team as an Apprentice or Trainee Dental Nurse.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to begin a career in dentistry. We are happy to consider candidates who are completely new to dentistry, those looking to undertake a dental nursing apprenticeship, or individuals who are already enrolled on a dental nursing course and need a practice to support their training.

The role
To help you settle into the practice and get to know our patients, team and working systems, you will initially spend time working on reception. This will give you a good understanding of how the practice operates before gradually progressing into the clinical side of dental nursing.

Initially, your reception responsibilities will include:
  • Welcoming patients and providing a friendly, professional first impression.
  • Answering telephone calls and dealing with patient enquiries.
  • Learning our practice management software and systems.
  • Booking appointments and managing the appointment diary.
  • Carrying out general administrative duties.

As you develop, you will have the opportunity to:
  • Shadow our experienced dental nurses.
  • Learn about the clinical environment and dental nursing procedures.
  • Develop practical dental nursing skills.
  • Assist the dental team during patient treatments as your training progresses.
  • Work towards gaining a recognised dental nursing qualification, where applicable.

We will support you throughout your development and help you build the confidence and skills needed to become a valued member of our clinical team.

Working days and hours
The position is open to three or four days per week with Monday and Friday being essential working days. The additional working day will be agreed with you.

Our opening hours are:
  • Monday-Thursday: 8:15am-5:30pm, with a one-hour unpaid lunch break.
  • Friday: 7:45am-4:30pm, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break.

Salary and training
  • Pay will be in line with the applicable National Minimum Wage depending on age.
  • We will provide support and guidance throughout your training and development.
  • The practice will support you in obtaining the required Hepatitis B vaccinations as you progress towards your clinical role.

The ideal candidate
We are looking for someone who is:
  • Friendly, approachable and confident when communicating with patients.
  • Well-spoken, with a professional and welcoming telephone manner.
  • Comfortable using computers and able to learn new IT systems.
  • Caring, patient-focused and professional.
  • A positive team player who enjoys working with others.
  • Enthusiastic, motivated and keen to learn new skills.

Ideally, you will live within a reasonable commuting distance of Abbeymead Dental Centre and be able to travel reliably to and from the practice on your agreed working days.

Join our team
This is a great opportunity to join a supportive, established team and develop a rewarding career in dental nursing. Whether you are looking for an apprenticeship, are already studying dental nursing, or simply want to take your first step into dentistry, we would love to hear from you.

We look forward to hearing from you!
