Job summaryIf shortlisted, interviews will be held on Thursday 24th September.
A new pharmacy supply and dispensing provision has been established to service wards and community services at Rotherham, Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust (RDaSH). This has created the opportunity to build a brand-new team to make it happen. This is a unique opportunity to be part of something from the ground up: shaping a modern, efficient, and patient-focused pharmacy service that directly supports the care delivered across our hospitals and community teams.
Weve created a dedicated dispensary hub at our Tickhill Road site in Doncaster to improve access to medicines, enhance patient experience, and strengthen resilience across our supply chain. The service will initially operate within the core hours of 8am 5pm, Monday to Friday. Youll be joining a forward-thinking team that values innovation, professional growth, and collaboration which will enable you to play a key role in improving how patients receive their medication.
Looking ahead, the Trust intends to establish a wholly owned subsidiary by 2027 to take this service to the next level. Initially you will be employed by Flourish Enterprises and will be transferred to the new subsidiary on the same terms & conditions, once the business has been registered. Over time the business may expand into new markets such as community pharmacy and care home services, creating even more opportunities for career development and innovation.
Main duties of the jobIf youre passionate about making a real difference, helping to design and deliver a pharmacy service that puts patients and professionals first, and want to be part of an ambitious journey from day one wed love to hear from you.
Reporting to the Superintendent Pharmacist, you will lead and manage the dispensary functions and team, with responsibility for the day-to-day operational management and development of the service.
You will coordinate the work of pharmacy technicians and support staff, ensuring that medicines are supplied safely and on time to wards and departments. You will analyse service information and respond to changing demand, prioritising workloads and deploying staff to areas of greatest need.
Alongside this operational leadership, you will have a significant role in pharmacy procurement and medicines supply. You will oversee purchasing, stock control and distribution, work with wholesalers and suppliers to resolve shortages and supply disruption, and support robust financial governance through cost-effective purchasing, contract compliance and the reduction of waste.
You will work closely with pharmacy, finance, clinical, procurement and digital colleagues to identify opportunities to improve the service, maximise value and strengthen medicines supply resilience.
