Main duties of the job

• Provide high-quality, patient-centred nursing care in accordance with NMC standards and practice policies.
• Undertake general treatment room duties, including wound care, dressings, injections and vaccinations.
• Support the management and review of patients with long-term conditions.
• Undertake health assessments, screening and health promotion activities.
• Provide appropriate advice and education to patients to promote health and self-management.
• Undertake cervical screening, where appropriately trained.
• Maintain accurate, contemporaneous and confidential clinical records.
• Work collaboratively with GPs and the wider multidisciplinary team.
• Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives and practice development.
• Maintain professional knowledge and competence through continuing professional development.
• Work within relevant clinical, professional and statutory guidelines.

Person Specification

• Experience of working within general practice essential
• Holds current NMC registration.
• Has experience in primary care/general practice, or demonstrates a strong interest in developing a career within general practice.
• Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Is able to work autonomously and effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Demonstrates a commitment to delivering safe, effective and compassionate patient care.
• Is organised, adaptable and able to prioritise a varied workload.
• Is committed to continuing professional development and maintaining clinical competence.
