Are you an experienced and forward-thinking pharmacist looking for your next leadership opportunity in a specialist clinical role? Frimley Health is seeking an enthusiastic, motivated, and highly skilled pharmacist to join our dynamic Gastroenterology team as a Band 8a Specialist Pharmacist.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering high-quality, patient-centred pharmaceutical care within Gastroenterology, while providing expert clinical leadership across the Trust. Based at Frimley Park Hospital, this post also carries cross-site responsibilities, offering the chance to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and influence service delivery on a wider scale.

To be successful in this role, you should have:

- A Postgraduate Clinical Diploma (or equivalent)
- Independent Prescribing qualification
- Significant post-registration clinical pharmacy experience
- A commitment to continuing professional development and advancing practice within Gastroenterology
- The ability to provide expert advice, lead service improvement, and support the development of pharmacy practice within the speciality

Main duties of the job
  • To develop the clinical pharmacy service to patients within the specialist area.
  • To provide clinical pharmacy services to patients within the specialist areas.
  • To act as a role model in the field of clinical pharmacy practice and provide a consistently high standard of clinical service in line with the pharmacy objectives.
  • To support the recruitment, management and development of staff under the postholder.
  • To work closely with the senior pharmacists, clinicians, nursing staff and other senior managers to develop pharmaceutical services to patients within the directorate.
  • To ensure close relations cross-site with the Gastroenterology team at Wexham Park Hospital.
  • To attend ward rounds / clinics when appropriate and able.
  • To work with the Surgical Lead Pharmacist in the provision and delivery of a TPN service.
  • Provide a clinical pharmacy service to specialised areas and a clinical pharmacy service to cover other areas when ward cover is needed.

Qualifications
Essential
  • Pharmacy degree (Masters level 4 years)
  • Registered with GPhC
  • Postgraduate clinical diploma or equivalent
  • Independent Prescriber (or intention to become one)
  • Evidence of Continuous Professional Development (CPD)

Desirable
  • MSc or higher degree
  • UKCPA membership
  • RPS membership
  • Formal management qualification

Experience
Essential
  • Experience of producing guidelines
  • Experience of producing drug appraisals
  • Experience of managing staff
  • Significant post-qualification experience working as a pharmacist in a clinical environment.

Desirable
  • Regular experience of providing clinical pharmacy support
  • Clinical audit experience.
  • Teaching/tutoring experience
