Job summary'Internal Applicants Only'The Senior Sister/Charge Nurse role is an exciting opportunity to develop your professional practice, leadership and management experience. This is a joint leadership role where two Ward Managers are responsible for the management of the 56 beds unit which includes a dedicated 11 bed Hi care Respiratory Support Unit. We are looking for a dynamic, motivated individual with a passion for ensuring quality driven care for respiratory patients. The successful candidate will show a commitment to patient safety, quality improvement and compassionate approach to leadership.
We require an innovative self-motivated individual who is passionate about Respiratory team to join our team as a band 7 senior nurse, Excellent communication skills and self-awareness are required for your own and others well- The post holder will also contribute to respiratory team use your expert clinical knowledge, leadership skill for day to day patient management and within colleagues to embed a positive practice environment, the support changes to our services within the medicine division and wider developments within Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
Main duties of the job- To develop and share expertise within the multidisciplinary team
- To develop and utilize the skills and expertise to act as a resource in the care of patients needs, ensuring an optimum level of service to patients and their carers
- To deploy high level skills in order to provide effective communication systems of support for patients
- To adhere to and promote in others the importance of infection control guidelines and procedures
- To ensure that all patients and families are aware of all treatment options, including clinical trials
- To lead on policy and service development within a multidisciplinary team context.
- To deliver and supervise patient care for the clinical area ensuring assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of a high standard of nursing care.
- To manage caseload of patients within defined clinical area.
- To lead the management of infection control for the clinical area in accordance with Trust Objectives and Policies.
- To organise own time and that of qualified junior staff, unqualified staff and students.
- To support the senior members of staff in the management and supervision of the defined clinical area.
- Communicate effectively with patients, carers, relatives and all members of the multidisciplinary team
- Maintain and develop high standards of care

- Experience of working in an acute clinical area as Band 6
- Evidence of leadership/management development
- Awareness of clinical skill across specialist areas
Desirable- Leadership and management training/ courses
- Respiratory care module/ courses/training
- Advance communication skill and training/previous experience
- Working towards master level
- Audit experience
