Main duties of the job
A registered nurse with substantial years clinical experience AFC 5 or above you will be able to participate in the delivery of a specialist tissue viability trust wide nursing service.

You will help to manage a clinical case load providing clinical advice and support relating to tissue viability.

You will formulate and participate in formal and informal education.

Plan, undertake and analyse relevant audit activities.

You will be able to support the Lead Nurse for Tissue Viability in the day to day running of the Trust wide service.

You will be able to work closely with the multidisciplinary team and also work autonomously, exercising clinical expertise in tissue viability.

You must possess knowledge and skills in clinical risk evaluation, pressure ulcer prevention strategies and ideally change management.

Working hours
Working hours is Monday-Friday 08:00 to 16:00 excluding bank holidays.

This is across both Gloucester Royal Hospital and Cheltenham General Hospital.

There is a free bus service between sites

Job responsibilities
As a band 6 Tissue Viability Nurse you will be responsible for the delivery of a high standard of care as part of the Tissue Viability Team, in support of and under the supervision of the lead nurse in the team.

You will have a passion for tissue viability and we will help you develop your knowledge in the planning and evaluation of wound care. You will be supported in the planning, delivering and evaluation of education around tissue viability.

Although you will at all times act as directed by the lead nurse in the Tissue Viability Team, you will be competent to work without direct supervision, and will undertake a range of delegated duties within a frame work that has been agreed by the lead nurse.

You will communicate effectively at all times in conjunction with other team members, which will involve recording information, contributing to and maintaining high standards of care in tissue viability and pressure ulcer prevention.

Qualifications
Essential

• First level registered nurse

Desirable

• Experience in wound care
• Degree level education.
• A recognised teaching qualification, i.e. 730/998 or equivalent.
• Qualification in wound care or working towards.

Experience

• Substantial post registration experience.

Desirable

• Experience of writing educational programmes
• Experience of presenting
• Experience of RCA
• Experience in managing own work load

Statutory Registration

• RN Level 1

Special Skills & Knowledge
Essential

• Good interpersonal skills and communication skills.
• Clinical competence.
• Ability to liaise effectively with senior medical and nursing staff, managers and all grades of health care workers.
• To be able to make informed clinical choices and formulate a plan of care delivery.
• Computer skills.

Desirable

• Demonstrable knowledge of research process.
• Be able to critically analyse research papers.
• Project management experience.
• Demonstrate competent computer proficiency (Microsoft Applications).
