Job summaryAn exciting opportunity has arisen for 4.8wte Band 8a Child and Adolescent Psychotherapists or Clinical Psychologists to join the Greater Manchester Specialist Perinatal Service.This role focuses on delivering and developing a high-quality parent-infant mental health service (PIMHS) for families from conception to 15 months and is an opportunity to contribute to the continued development and transformation of the specialist PIMH pathway. The role will involve direct work with families, ncluding assessment, formulation and intervention; consultation, teaching and training; supervision; audit, evaluation, research and service development.
Less experienced applicants will be considered and will be appointed at band 7, working towards band 8a competencies.You will join a warm, skilled, collaborative MDT committed to high quality trauma informed care which promotes the wellbeing of infants, parents and the wider family system.
We offer a highly supportive and reflective MDT, comprehensive perinatal and PIMHS induction, specialist clinical supervision and regular supportive line management. You will have access to CPD opportunities.
Perinatal and/or Parent Infant Mental Health experience is welcome but not essential. We provide robust induction, specialist training, and ongoing development for those new to this area.The posts will be based at one of the 3 Specialist Perinatal Service clusters: Stiltz Building, M23 9GP; The Courtyard, BL1 8PB; One Central Park, M40 5BP.Main duties of the jobThis role focuses on delivering and developing a high-quality parent-infant mental health service for families from conception to 15 months.
The post holder will work closely alongside the Consultant Clinical Psychologist in Parent Infant Mental Health (PIMH), contributing to clinical and service development, and thedelivery of specialist interventions.
The role involves supporting parents, carers and families experiencing moderate to severe Perinatal mental health difficulties, with a focus on strengthening parent-infant relationships. The post holder will provide a range of community-based interventions including assessment, consultation, training, group work, and individual therapeutic support for parents, infants, and families.
The post holder will work collaboratively within the Specialist Perinatal Service and with Provider PIMH teams where appropriate.
The post offers enhanced clinical supervision tosupport safe, effective practice and ongoing professional development.

Person SpecificationEssentialEssential- Masters level pre-clinical training at an Association of Child Psychotherapists (ACP) recognised training school Post graduate doctoral level training in clinical child psychotherapy at a training school accredited by the Association of Child Psychotherapy or Association of Child Psychotherapists Statement of Equivalence OR Doctoral level Clinical Psychology accredited by BPS / HCPC
ExperienceEssential- Experience of working as a qualified Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist or a qualified Clinical Psychologist
Desirable- Experience of specialist psychotherapeutic assessment and treatment of families with children under 5 years of age, especially infants.
- Experience of working with parents with moderate to severe mental health difficulties
