We are looking for an organised, proactive, and empathetic Practice Manager to lead our day-to-day operations.
Working closely with the Partners, you will ensure the smooth running of the surgery, keeping our patient services excellent and our small team thriving.
Main duties of the jobTo manage the practices staff to ensure teams work effectively, and that the practice workforce comprises a suitable mix of skills and competence to deliver high-quality services. To take responsibility for performance management of staff and workforce planning and being flexible in doing so.
Planning and managing QOF activities and workload, delegating duties, monitoring progress, and taking corrective action as required.
To ensure that data and information are handled correctly, processed in an agreed format, actioned in a timely manner, stored and transmitted in a way that maintains confidentiality. To also ensure that the practice complies with legislation and information management standards.
Developing and maintaining access to patient services. To monitor the availability of appointments, both in advance and on a day-to-day basis, to make sure patient access is adequate.
Ensure services are developed and delivered in line with national and local guidance.
To take responsibility for risk management, ensuring risks are identified, tackled, minimised and mitigated, in line with legislation and good practice. Reviewing policies and procedures to ensure they comply with requirements.
Lead on health and safety compliance, ensuring the practices health and safety policy is up to date, and that all staff comply. Monitoring work areas and practices to make sure they are safe, in line with health and safety procedures and legislation.
About usGreenhead Family Doctors is a small practice located close to Huddersfield town centre. We are a forward-thinking, teaching practice with a friendly and dedicated team. The successful candidate will support our commitment to delivering exceptional General Practice services and drive positive change and growth, working closely with the GP partners. You would be responsible for a team of 8 employed staff (clinical and administrative) and would need to work collaboratively with practices within our Primary Care Network (PCN). We use the SystmOne clinical system.
Job responsibilitiesJob SummaryThe successful candidate will provide strong leadership and oversee the day-to-day management of the practice, ensuring efficient service delivery, high-quality patient care and compliance with NHS, CQC and relevant legislation.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and supporting clinical and administrative teams, including recruitment, workforce planning, appraisals and staff development.
- Managing practice finances, budgets, payroll, procurement and contracts.
- Ensuring compliance with NHS requirements, CQC standards, HR, health and safety and information governance.
- Leading quality improvement, change management and business continuity initiatives.
- Working closely with the PCN, partners and ARRS staff to support effective service delivery.
- Managing premises, IT systems, policies, complaints, patient communications and the Patient Participation Group.
- Supporting achievement of QOF and other NHS contractual targets.
We are looking for a
proactive, organised and collaborative leader with strong communication, management and IT skills and experience in healthcare, finance, workforce planning and performance management. NHS/primary care experience and a relevant management qualification are desirable.
Person SpecificationExperienceEssential- Experience managing budgets, accounting and cash-flow forecasting.
- Experience working within a healthcare setting.
- Experience in staff performance management, including appraisals, development and disciplinary procedures.
- Experience in workforce planning, forecasting and staff development
Desirable- Proven experience in operational management, leadership, or business administration (GP practice or NHS experience is a strong advantage).

- Excellent IT skills and the ability to adapt to healthcare systems (e.g., EMIS Web, SystmOne).
