gtd healthcare is a values driven, not-for-profit provider of innovative healthcare across North-West England, with a turnover of £49 million, we are one of the largest NHS Commissioned providers of Primary and Urgent Care Services in the region.

We're looking for a Salaried GP to compliment our existing Medical Lead & GP Partner to provide care for our growing 2,300 list of patients in and around the semi-rural area of Mossley.

You will join our supportive and established multi-disciplinary team of pharmacists, senior clinical practitioners, administrative staff including practice manager, operations manager and our friendly reception & admin staff.

The practice is approximately 20-30 minutes drive from the M67 junction at Hyde or the M60 junction at Ashton-Under-Lyne, it is located 5 minutes away from the main high street in lower Mossley near the train station, making commuting from the city centre easily accessible.

The practice works closely with the primary care network in Stalybridge along with our neighboring practice at Millbrook, where you may occasionally work from.

The hours of work for this post are 12 per week (3 sessions), to be worked on Tuesdays between the hours of 8am - 6.30pm and Wednesday 1pm - 6.30pm.

There may be opportunities for additional flexible hours to cover annual leave of the GP's on an over time basis.

Main duties of the job
  • You will provide routine and urgent clinical care for both acute and long term conditions working to local and national guidelines. The daily clinical workload is split equally amongst all clinicians and access is triaged by the GP working that day using our online consultation system. The acute home visit demand on the practice is generally low, however you may be required to carry out visits occasionally. Minimal private work required due to outsourcing most non NHS requests.
  • Experience of using patchs, emis and docman or equivalent systems are essential.
  • You will be required to actively implement and support the use of digital technologies with patient triage systems and other communication technologies.
  • You will attend and play an active role in regular practice & clinical meetings along with safeguarding and GSF MDT meetings. Opportunities to be included in PCN network, Becoor projects.
  • You will be expected to work with the team to continually strive to improve standards of care and, in particular, achieve QoF targets and KLOE objectives as outlined by CQC.
  • You will be expected to participate in ongoing personal and professional development keeping up to date with appraisal and GMC requirements for licensing.
  • You must be a strong approachable leader. It would be desirable to have an interest in becoming a GP trainer.

Job responsibilities
Provision of care & service delivery
  • Provide high quality and current evidence based medical care to the patients of the Medical Practice and, where necessary and relevant, patients from other gtd healthcare managed services.
  • Provide all GP services required as part of the GMS Contract held between gtd healthcare and commissioners.
  • Undertake all necessary and relevant paperwork associated with the provision of medical services.
  • Operate as part of a wider networked clinical team with partner practices for peer development, peer support and provision of relevant services.
  • Undertake surgeries during extended hours in accordance with the access needs of the practice population and the contractual obligation of the practice.
  • Provide support to other clinical professionals within the practice, e.g. Advanced Nurse Practitioner, practice nurses.

Clinical and service development
  • Support the achievement of QOF targets, taking a lead on a specific clinical area where appropriate.
  • Actively participate in the development of services in the practices that meet the needs of the practices patient population and maximise the opportunities of new enhanced services.
  • Work as an integral member of the practice team, contributing to the efficient and effective running of the practice.
  • Support, where necessary, the implementation of change within the practice.
  • Undertake clinical audits as required.
  • Participate in individual and practice reviews as a part of incident or complaints management process.

Development and training
  • Participate in an ongoing personal and professional development programme including annual appraisal and supervision.
  • Ensure that mandatory training is completed within agreed timescales.
  • Where appropriate, undertake the North West Deanery basic trainers course and work with the practice and management teams to either enable practice training status to be achieved or maintain training status.
  • Support the development of gtd healthcare becoming a beacon training organisation.

Corporate responsibilities
  • As an employee of gtd healthcare comply with all corporate and clinical policies and protocols.
  • Ensure that mandatory training in complete and updated within the appropriate timescales.
  • Where appropriate, engage in the management and resolution of complaints and incidents and significant events.

Other duties
  • Any other duties, as agreed with the line manager to meet the needs of the organisation. This may include travel to other sites within the organisation.


Person Specification
Experience
Essential
  • In practice as a General Practitioner/ locum practitioner. Commitment to and experience of working as part of a multi-disciplinary and skill mixed team environment.
  • Experience of working to achieve standards within the Quality and Outcome Framework (QOF).

Desirable
  • Experience of supporting service change.
  • Experience of team leadership.

Qualifications
Essential
  • A medical practitioner whose name is included in the General Practitioner Register under article 1 of the General and Specialist Medical Practice Order 2003.
  • Not subject to suspension under section 41A of the Medical Act 1983 Qualified General Practitioner (completed certificate of Completion of Training CCT).
  • Currently on a performers list and not suspended from that list or from the medical register.
  • Accredited as a member of the Royal College Of General Practitioners (MRCGP) or have 5 yrs experience as a full time GP with a demonstrable commitment to quality practice.

Desirable
  • GP Trainer.
