Job summary
The primary purpose of this role will be to support the Consultant Psychologist to provide line management and clinical supervision to the team of psychologists, therapists and psychiatry and psychology trainees. The team of clinicians provide high quality, specialist clinical psychology services to people experiencing gambling harm with complex presentations. The post holder will participate in the development of a high quality, responsive and accessible service, delivering valued outcomes for clients and their families and carers. This includes the development of new and/or specialist psychological interventions for people experiencing gambling harm and additional needs which may require multiagency and indirect work. This role will support the development of a brand-new treatment service, using a digital psychotherapeutic informed approach to treat people who experience problem gambling.

The service will operate from 9am-5pm Monday to Friday. However, an out of hours clinic is planned in the future (one evening a week until 8pm). Therefore, the postholder will be expected to work outside of normal working hours as part of their role. Treatment options offered to patients would include treatment workshops, evidence-based psychological therapy (short and long term) and pharmacotherapy.

Main duties of the job
The post-holder is a member of the multi-professional team. As a senior clinician, with substantial clinical experience and post-qualification training, the post-holder will provide a high level of expertise within the Southern Gambling Service.

Working with the senior management team, clinical staff and peer support staff, to take a supporting role in the creation, development, containment and support of a multi-professional therapeutic environment and trauma-informed approach which can provide the highest quality psychologically informed care for adults experiencing harmful gambling and associated mental health problems.

Across Hampshire, our community hospitals provide inpatient rehabilitation as a step down from acute care, and our dedicated teams also staff Treetops Sexual Assault Referral Centre in Portsmouth, offering expert, compassionate support.

Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential
  • Post-graduate doctoral level training in clinical psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies. and lifespan developmental psychology.
  • Formal training in supervision of other psychologists or equivalent experience.
  • Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council as a Practitioner Psychologist
