Job summary
Would you like to work with multidisciplinary mental health teams based in Southampton and South West Hants? Applications are invited for a Band 7 Psychological Therapist / Applied Psychologist for an 18-month fixed term post / secondment. The post is based across Eastleigh and Southampton West CMHTs. Flexible working and some working from home will also be considered according to clinical need.

You would be joining a friendly and supportive team of clinicians, who pride ourselves on delivering high quality care and promoting recovery. We are committed to continuing professional development and self-care, and ensuring staff are able to achieve the right work-life balance. All psychological therapists within the service are embedded within clinical teams, contributing to MDT care planning and the delivery of trauma informed care, and offering psychological assessment and evidence-based therapies. Within the service, we offer a range of therapies, including: Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), family interventions, Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).

Main duties of the job
To provide a qualified specialist psychological therapies service to the Community Mental Health Team's (CMHT) in the Southwest and Southampton Division; providing specialist psychological assessment, interventions and therapy. This may include working with families/ carers where appropriate. Individuals will primarily present with complex psychological problems that would benefit from the services of the CMHT. The post holder will offer advice and consultation on individuals' psychological care to non-psychological therapist colleagues and to other, non-professional carers, working autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the team's policies and procedures. To utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development and research within the area served by the team/service in line with service need. The post holder will place an emphasis on co-production and demonstrate an attitude which respects and values patients' and their carers and the core values of the trust: compassion, accountability, respect, and excellence.

Across Hampshire, our community hospitals provide inpatient rehabilitation as a step down from acute care, and our dedicated teams also staff Treetops Sexual Assault Referral Centre in Portsmouth, offering expert, compassionate support.

  • A doctoral level qualification in clinical or counselling psychology or equivalent, and registration with the HCPC as a practitioner psychologist.
  • Or
  • Qualification as an RMN, social worker or occupational therapist with post-qualification training in psychological therapy equivalent to a diploma or above. Applications from qualified psychological therapists without a core professional training will also be considered if they meet the other criteria.
  • AND
  • Accredited registration with a relevant psychological professional body (e.g. HCPC, BABCP, ACAT, EMDR Association).
