A fantastic opportunity has arisen within Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust Safeguarding Support Team to appoint three skilled, motivated, and enthusiastic Registered Professionals to the Safeguarding Support Team as a Family Approach Nurse/Practitioner.

The post holders will support the Named Nurse/Professional in embedding this family-focused safeguarding approach across the Trust within a designated geographical hub model as part of the wider Safeguarding Support team.

The Safeguarding Nurse/Practitioner will be part of a service dedicated to supporting and promoting the welfare of adults and children. The role involves assisting the Named Nurse/Professional and Safeguarding Specialists in delivering a responsive, expert service that provides daily support and advice to Trust staff, ensuring good safeguarding practices which align with evidence-based research. The post holder will actively contribute to family approach, safeguarding training across the Trust, preparing and delivering training sessions.

Main duties of the job

• Identifying potential safeguarding concerns and working collaboratively as part of a multi-agency team, ultimately leading to improved outcomes for those children and adults who may need support and escalate any safeguarding concerns or incidents to the appropriate senior staff or safeguarding lead, in accordance with organisational policies and procedures.
• Support the named nurse/professionals and safeguarding specialists to meet statutory safeguarding duties and responsibilities and will promote a family approach to meet safeguarding responsibilities.
• Respond to safeguarding concerns effectively by providing expert advice and safeguarding supervision, using a family approach, to assure high-quality restorative and reflective safeguarding practice across our Trust services.
• Build and maintain constructive relationships to enable collaborative working with multidisciplinary teams and internal and external stakeholders across a wide range of services and disciplines, to ensure a coordinated approach to safeguarding.
• Support delivery of safeguarding related training and education across the Trust to promote a culture of safeguarding within the organisation to ensure staff are aware of policies, procedures and responsibilities, when required support multi-agency training provision.
• Participate and support the wider team with dissemination of health information and share learning from incidents and case reviews to support best practice.
• Assist the wider team with audit processes.

Person Specification

Qualifications

• Registered Professional on Part 1 of the NMC Register (Nursing and Midwifery Council), or relevant qualifications as a Midwife, Allied health professional or social worker with relevant and current professional registration.
• Degree level qualification or Equivalent
• Evidence of ongoing Professional development.

Desirable

• Teaching and assessment qualification.
• Evidence of specialist specific safeguarding training.

Experience

• Evidence of experience relating to safeguarding adults and / or children using a family approach.
• Have sound clinical background and relevant post qualification experience.
• Experience of inter-agency partnership working
• Experience and knowledge of attending multiagency safeguarding meetings
• Evidence of skills required to assess and interpret complex safeguarding needs of patients/clients
• Experience of completing reports, care plans and risk assessments.
• Demonstrates strong team player attributes, working collaboratively with colleagues from diverse disciplines to ensure the best outcomes for vulnerable individuals.
• Is approachable, friendly, and committed to fostering a positive team environment.
• Maintains a non-judgmental attitude, ensuring all individuals are treated with respect, dignity, and empathy, regardless of background or circumstances and upholds high standards of personal and professional integrity.
