Job Summary
Are you an experienced MSK Clinician looking to advance in your career?

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled and experienced MSK clinician to join our existing MSK Physiotherapy Outpatient department in Southampton. The team form part of a larger MSK service which takes pride in delivering high quality care and rehabilitation to the residents of Southampton, Portsmouth, IOW and Hampshire.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual with excellent clinical, communication and interpersonal skills. This role is based in Southampton where clinics run across a variety of locations within the city, including the Adelaide Health Centre, Bitterne Health Centre and the Stoneham Centre (Moorgreen Hospital). You will be working with a diverse population and exposed to a wide variety of MSK conditions within your caseload.

The MSK team is committed to continued professional development & promote evidence-based practise to ensure a high standard of care throughout the service. As a valued team member, you will have opportunities to develop your four pillars of practice, working alongside specialists and exercise rehab instructors and benefitting from an extensive professional development programme including regular clinical supervision and band 5 training sessions, CPD funding through our ACE academy, & support towards progressing in your career.

Main duties of the job
  • Undertakes highly skilled musculoskeletal assessment of patients including those with highly complex presentations and from this formulates a diagnosis and treatment plan which is carried out as an autonomous practitioner.
  • Takes a role in the supervision, teaching and appraisal of senior, junior and rehabilitation assistants, physiotherapy students and other members of the multi disciplinary team.
  • Deputises for Team Leader as required.
  • Active involvement in service development for the department, Trust and profession.
  • Complete tasks assigned/delegated by team lead in a timely and professional manner.
  • Supervises, initiates and participates in evidence based projects, assists in implementing changes within designated team/area and setting and monitoring standards of practice.

Across Hampshire, our community hospitals provide inpatient rehabilitation as a step down from acute care, and our dedicated teams also staff Treetops Sexual Assault Referral Centre in Portsmouth, offering expert, compassionate support.

Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential
  • Degree or equivalent in physiotherapy
  • HCPC registration
  • Evidence of CPD in musculoskeletal physiotherapy in the form of a detailed personal development portfolio
  • Postgraduate education/courses in musculoskeletal physiotherapy

Desirable
  • Postgraduate education/courses in musculoskeletal physiotherapy
  • CSP membership

Experience
Essential
  • Post registration experience including MSK musculoskeletal physiotherapy.
  • Advanced knowledge of anatomy and physiology underlying musculoskeletal injuries
  • Understands the legal responsibilities of the profession
  • Basic understanding of computers and their applications
  • Clinical reasoning skills in musculoskeletal physiotherapy
  • Research skills
  • Excellent verbal & written skills
  • Able to present information in a clear and logical manner
  • Good teaching, supervisory & appraisal skills
  • Proven organisational skills including prioritisation and delegation
  • Ability to work autonomously within specialist clinical area
  • Able to lead team training
  • Ability to comprehend and work within the Trust's policies of data protection, equal opportunities and health and safety to meet the differing needs of patients
  • Ability to be self-motivated

Desirable
  • Experience of service developments
  • Experience of Clinical Governance Including quality, audit and risk management
  • Experience of the research process
  • Experience of working with patients in group settings
  • Knowledge of quality improvement methodology
  • Good Presentation Skills
  • Driver with clean driving licence
