Job summary
Internal HDFT Applicants Only

Lead, co-ordinate and advise on specific aspects of clinical quality, risk management, and governance processes across Children's services.

Review, define, scope, plan, manage and deliver activities associated with the quality and safety agenda for Children's nursing.

Lead on improving clinical specific areas of clinical practice, develop robust quality assurance frameworks, systems and processes to assess and evaluate the safety and effectiveness of specific clinical initiatives against trust quality standards and relevant national and local recommendations and guidance and policies.

Provide strong clinical leadership to support the delivery of the trust quality agenda which will ensure the ongoing delivery of safe high-quality services.

Be a proven change agent and role model who can demonstrate a visionary and innovative approach to care with a good understanding of the local and national health agenda.

Inform the education, training and professional development agenda to ensure the Trust has a highly skilled and competent children's workforce to deliver safe high-quality care.

Main duties of the job
  • Lead on specific work streams associated with quality and safety improvements, ensuring that robust processes are in place which promote organisational learning within all staff groups to ensure the highest quality, evidence-based care is provided and continuous improvement is achieved.
  • Identify and implement agreed systems and processes to provide assurance of the delivery of patient safety and prevention of harm in line with national and local standard of care.
  • Ensure systems are in place to monitor and evaluate the quality of care, KPI's and outcomes to give assurance that all clinical teams are delivering ongoing improvements in the standards of care based on best evidence-based practice

Person Specification
Professional - Essential
  • NMC registered Children's nurse
  • Master's level qualification or equivalent demonstrable experience
  • Teaching / Mentoring qualification
  • Management / Leadership qualification or demonstrate similar experience
  • Recent senior clinical/managerial level experience
  • Service improvement/change management experience

Professional - Desirable
  • Project management/service improvement qualification
  • Involvement in clinical audit and/or research.
  • Experience of leading patient involvement/patient feedback initiatives.
