Description

Role: GP Manager/Lead Doctor - Glasgow
Town: Glasgow Central
Full time / Part Time: Minimum 3 days per week
Permanent: Salaried
Shift times: Monday to Friday only
Salary: Competitive

We're looking for a talented GP Manager/Lead Doctor to join our team onsite at HCA UK Primary Care Glasgow. We are the UK's largest private patient GP employer and this is a really exciting opportunity for someone to build on the already successful practice in St Vincent Street.

The majority of our patients come through to us from our corporate clients; corporate sector professionals who are prioritising their health and who value a comprehensive, personalised approach. If you have a passion for "prevention rather than cure" and lifestyle medicine, this could be the role for you!

As a Lead Doctor at HCA UK Primary Care you will report directly to the Chief Clinical Officer and occupy a managerial position within the clinical team. This dual clinical and managerial role involves delivering high-quality, personalised medical care to a diverse patient population, including corporate clients, VIPs, and self-funded private patients. You will also be expected to practise with a high level of clinical autonomy managing acute and chronic conditions, offering preventative health and lifestyle advice, and ensuring timely referrals to leading private specialists. The focus is on providing exceptional care in a setting that values discretion, convenience, and service excellence.

This is a critical leadership role, line-managing a team of GPs, Senior GPs, and the Health Screening Doctors. This includes clinical oversight, mentoring, performance management, and fostering a high-performing, patient-focused team culture. The GP Manager works closely with, and is supported by the HCA governance team to ensure compliance with The Scottish Care Inspectorate, leading on clinical audits, supporting quality improvement initiatives, and maintaining rigorous safety and documentation standards.

The role also contributes to operational development of the service, advising on service design, innovation, and clinical delivery models. The GP Manager is actively involved in recruitment, onboarding, and the ongoing training of clinicians, helping to shape a supportive and development-focused workplace.

The successful applicant will also be the key liaison with corporate clients, providing clinical insight to support client relationships, contract delivery, and retention strategies.

What you'll bring:
  • GMC registered
  • MRCGP (or equivalent) and on the GP Register
  • Extensive GP Practice experience post qualifying from GP Training
  • Direct line and people management experience preferred
  • Knowledge and experience of clinical governance, The Scottish Care Inspectorate regulations and inspections. Complaints Management and Risk Assessments but training can be given
  • Previous experience as a GP Partner or Lead/Manager
  • Experience recruiting, training and inducting new colleagues
  • Strong communication and IT skills.
  • Adaptable and able to meet changing working patterns and caseload, working independently as well as within the team.
  • A proactive, patient-first approach with a genuine interest in preventative and lifestyle medicine coaching.
  • Private Patient experience, desirable, but not essential
