The Christie Private Care, Manchester
Full Time, 37.5 hours per week
Shifts: Monday to Friday

Are you a Band 5 Registered Nurse with SACT competency and experience administering chemotherapy? If so, this is an exciting opportunity to join one of the UK's most respected specialist cancer centres and play a key role in delivering outstanding cancer care.

At The Christie Private Care, rated Outstanding by the CQC, you'll become part of a highly skilled and compassionate team delivering personalised cancer treatment within a modern, purpose-built environment. Operated by HCA Healthcare UK in partnership with The Christie NHS Foundation Trust, we combine clinical excellence with an exceptional patient experience.

Our Chemotherapy Day Unit provides a specialist day-case service, delivering Systemic Anti-Cancer Treatments (SACT) in a safe, supportive and patient-focused environment. Through close multidisciplinary collaboration, we ensure patients receive the highest standard of care throughout their treatment journey.

About the Role
As a Staff Nurse within our Chemotherapy Day Unit, you will play a pivotal role in supporting patients throughout their cancer treatment. You will be responsible for assessing, planning, delivering and evaluating patient care, whilst ensuring the safe administration of systemic anti-cancer therapies.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Safely administering chemotherapy and other systemic anti-cancer treatments in line with established protocols and competency requirements.
  • Undertaking patient assessments prior to treatment and identifying any concerns requiring escalation.
  • Monitoring patients throughout treatment and managing treatment-related side effects and complications.
  • Providing education, support and reassurance to patients and their families.
  • Working collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team to deliver exceptional patient-centred care.
  • Maintaining accurate clinical documentation and adhering to all governance and safety standards.

What you’ll bring:
  • Current NMC registration as a Registered Nurse.
  • Experience working within Oncology, Haematology or a Chemotherapy Day Unit setting.
  • Current SACT competency and experience administering chemotherapy treatments independently.
  • Knowledge of oncology treatments, toxicity management and patient assessment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A compassionate, patient-centred approach to care.
  • A commitment to delivering clinical excellence and continuously developing your practice.
