Description

Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Physiotherapy Department.

Our Acute Medical and Respiratory Physiotherapy Service plays a key role in shaping rehabilitation for patients across acute medical, respiratory, frailty and complex care pathways.

This is an opportunity to step into a specialist role where your clinical expertise, decision making and autonomy are genuinely valued. You will work within a collaborative, forward thinking multidisciplinary team that promotes professional development, innovation and shared learning.

As a Specialist Physiotherapist, you will independently assess, formulate and deliver person centred rehabilitation programmes for adults presenting with a wide range of acute medical conditions and functional needs.

You will be a key contributor to the daily running of the service, providing clinical support and guidance to junior colleagues, coordinating caseloads and contributing to effective patient flow across acute care pathways. Your work will help shape rehabilitation services throughout the acute hospital setting, improving patient outcomes, continuity of care and the overall patient experience.

Main duties of the job
A central part of your role will include:
  • Delivering specialist therapy programmes using advanced clinical reasoning and outcome measures
  • Providing expert advice to patients, carers and colleagues across Health and Care Jersey and the wider community
  • Supporting and developing junior therapists, rotational staff and Rehabilitation Assistants
  • Leading and contributing to complex discharge planning, working collaboratively with patients, families and the multidisciplinary team to support safe, timely and appropriate discharge pathways
  • Contributing to service planning, audit activity and evidence-based improvements
  • Participating in weekly in service training and CPD initiatives
  • Working closely with the MDT to ensure coordinated, holistic treatment plans
  • Occasionally deputising for senior staff and supporting day-to-day operational decisions
  • Participating in the physiotherapy on call rota (by agreement)
