Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and enthusiastic clinician to join the Wellbeing and Emotional Support in Schools Team (WEST), our Mental Health Support Team (MHST) service across Herefordshire and Worcestershire. WEST delivers evidence-based, low-intensity CBT-informed interventions to children and young people aged 5-18 experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties in educational settings.

We are recruiting a Clinical Lead for our Wyre Forest team, and another team as we expand further in the future. You will provide clinical leadership, support staff development, and ensure the quality, safety and effectiveness of clinical practice across the service.

Main duties of the job
As Clinical Lead, you will provide clinical leadership and oversight across the service, ensuring high standards of quality, safety and evidence-based practice. You will coordinate staff resources, provide clinical supervision, and support the development of colleagues.

You will lead and contribute to training programmes, chair and participate in meetings, and work collaboratively with schools, partners and wider services to support positive outcomes for children and young people.

The role includes monitoring and evaluating clinical standards, contributing to audit, governance and quality improvement activities, and implementing best practice, policy and service developments. You will maintain accurate and contemporaneous electronic records, ensure confidentiality is upheld at all times, and support innovative and integrated ways of working.

As a senior clinician, you will be professionally accountable for your practice and contribute to the ongoing development of the service.

Job responsibilities

Qualifications
Essential

• A current professional qualification (RMN, RSCN, Social Worker, Occupational Therapist, Clinical Psychologist).
• EMHP - PGDip/GradDip Mental Health Practice in Education Settings.
• CWP - Postgraduate Diploma in Children and Young Peoples Wellbeing Practice.
• EMHP or CWP significant post qualification experience.
• Evidence of continuous and recent professional development and post qualification training / studies.
• I understand that I will be asked to provide original certificates to verify my qualifications at point of offer.

Desirable

• Relevant accredited courses e.g. Leadership / evidence-based practice modalities such as CBT.
• Supervision and / or mentorship training.

Experience
Essential

• Experience in undertaking research projects / clinical audits.
• Significant recent and relevant clinical experience post-registration.
• Previous experience providing a service to children and young people within a multi-disciplinary team.
• Able to demonstrate evidence-based practice.
• Leadership experience / experience managing a clinical team.
• Experience of working with patients with severe and enduring mental illness.
• Experience of partnership working / liaison in inter-agency environment.
• Able to demonstrate experience and skill in assessing mental health and risk.

Desirable

• Experience in training / teaching and student assessment.

Knowledge
Essential

• Knowledge of research and clinical governance.
• Knowledge of Public Health developments / agenda.
• Knowledge of current NHS and national priorities in relation to mental and emotional health and wellbeing of Children and Young People.
• Knowledge of the wider influences which impact on service delivery e.g. the commissioning agenda.

Desirable

• Knowledge of managing change / conflict.
