Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Band 7 Physiotherapy Clinical Lead to join our integrated Redditch and Bromsgrove Neighbourhood Teams.

This is a senior clinical and leadership role within our community services, providing specialist physiotherapy assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation for adults with complex physical health needs in their own homes and community settings. The post holder will combine clinical practice with leadership responsibilities, supporting the delivery of safe, effective, and patient-centred care across the service.

Working closely with colleagues across community services, primary care, acute hospitals, social care, and voluntary sector partners, you will play a key role in delivering integrated rehabilitation services that support patients to maximise independence, avoid unnecessary hospital admissions, and achieve their personal goals.

Main duties of the job
As a Clinical Lead, you will provide day-to-day clinical leadership to the multidisciplinary team, promoting evidence-based practice, quality improvement, and high standards of care. You will support the development of physiotherapy staff, students, and support workers through supervision and mentorship, while contributing to service development and transformation initiatives.

Working flexibly to provide the service delivery need across the local area (the service operates from 7:30am 6:30pm, Monday to Sunday including bank holidays)

While on duty you will either be working alone or alongside colleagues to support delegated tasks in line with Trust standards and core values. Your typical working day will include home visits for adults over 18 years needing a range of interventions. These include undertaking comprehensive MFFA assessments, routine and urgent physiotherapy assessments and manual Handling assessments.

Job responsibilities

• Undertake comprehensive physiotherapy assessments and provide interventions for patients presenting with highly complex, acute and chronic conditions. Developing evidence-based treatment plans, and evaluate outcomes, working autonomously within professional guidelines.
• Provide clinical leadership for a designated caseload, ensuring effective prioritisation, triage, and management of referrals in accordance with clinical need, service demands, and organisational priorities.
• Lead the planning, delivery, and evaluation of rehabilitation programmes in collaboration with multidisciplinary team colleagues, ensuring a coordinated, patient-centred approach that promotes independence, recovery, and quality of life.
• Act as a senior clinical resource within the Neighbourhood Team, providing expert advice, guidance, and support to physiotherapy and multidisciplinary colleagues in the management of complex patients.
• Provide professional and clinical leadership to junior physiotherapists, therapy support staff, students, and other members of the multidisciplinary team through supervision, mentorship and appraisal.
• Contribute to workforce development by identifying learning needs, supporting staff development, and promoting a culture of continuous learning and professional excellence.
• Lead and participate in service development, quality improvement, clinical audit, and governance initiatives to enhance patient outcomes, service effectiveness, and compliance with professional standards.
• Develop and maintain strong working relationships with acute hospitals, primary care colleagues, community services, social care, and voluntary sector partners to facilitate seamless patient pathways and integrated care delivery.
• Contribute to operational management within the service, supporting capacity planning, service redesign, policy implementation, and achievement of key performance indicators.

Skills & Abilities
Essential

• Excellent skills in clinical assessment, intervention and evaluation.
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English in both verbal and written formats.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Be able to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team.
• Ability to pass on skills / knowledge to others through in service training and educational workshops.
• Good computer literacy.
• Able to maintain judgement and work effectively under pressure.

• Knowledge and experience of complex manual handling techniques and risk assessments

Qualifications
Essential

• Diploma / Degree in Physiotherapy
• HPC registration
• Evidence of relevant post graduate courses / CPD maintained in portfolio
• I understand that I will be asked to provide original certificates to verify my qualifications at point of offer.

Desirable

• Relevant validated clinical course
• Clinical Educators qualification
• Post graduate training relevant to clinical area

Knowledge
Essential

• Excellent knowledge of physiotherapy in relevant areas.
