Job summary
We currently have opportunities to join the Nursing Bank within Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (HPFT). In particular we are looking for temporary staff to work as and when required often at short notice at Band 5 level, within Broadlands, Norfolk If you are interested in working within our learning disability & forensic services in a temporary capacity we would like to hear from you. All roles on the bank are for as and when workers and therefore in particular may suit those already working part-time, with other commitments, or who want to work on a short-term basis.Requirements for various hours can be considered. If you are available in school holidays or term time only then we would also like to hear from you.HPFT provides services for service users with mental health, learning disability and children's and adolescent mental health problems. Applicants should have some experience of working in a healthcare setting particularly within mental health or learning disability services. HPFT has a range of healthcare settings across the County and therefore access to a car would be beneficial unless you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010 which prevents you from driving

Main duties of the job
The post holder will work in close collaboration with other professionals in assessing service user's needs, devising care plans and evaluating outcomes that promote service user empowerment through the process. The post holder, with the wider Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) will participate in the assessment and treatment to provide high quality, individualised care, which addresses the needs of the service users. The post holder will support the Charge Nurse and the Team Leader to ensure that the service is managed effectively and efficiently in all aspects

Job responsibilities
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Actively fulfil the role of Named Nurse for the individuals in the service area, providing a holistic approach to service user assessment, treatment, review and management of packages of care
  • Ensure that the statutory requirements of the MHA 1983 (amended 2007) and Mental Capacity Act are observed and applied
  • Have the clinical skills relative to the delivery of care in the service area
  • Have effective working relationships with other professionals within the service area, across the Strategic Business Units, (SBUs) Trust and other NHS providers and key stakeholders
  • Contribute towards effective management and utilisation of resources with service area
  • Lead a nursing staff team in the absence of the Charge Nurse.

Person Specification
KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Essential
  • Academic qualifications o RNMH/RNLD/RMN
  • Membership of professional bodies o NMC
  • Completed Preceptorship and can evidence this.

AREAS OF EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE:
Essential
  • IT skills, in particular MS word
  • Experience of assessing and managing clinical risk

PHYSICAL SKILLS
Essential
  • Physically fit and able to successfully complete a prevention and management of aggression training course, and annual refresher training
  • Access to own transportation
  • Able to travel to place of work
