Job summary
We are delighted to advertise this exciting post for a Band 8a Clinical Psychologist in the North Essex Learning Disability Specialist Health Services, with a focus on the Mid-West Community Team. This is a part time (0.6 WTE) post based in Braintree, Essex, with some opportunities for remote working. The ability to travel independently between locations to fulfil the requirements of the post is essential.

We are looking for a motivated individual, who is enthusiastic about working with people who have learning disabilities and their networks of care and who will enjoy the many opportunities to contribute to, and learn from a large group of psychologist with expertise in various areas. You would be joining a dynamic and supportive multi disciplinary team and become involved in a variety of psychological tasks such as assessments, formulations, individual and group therapy, neurodevelopmental assessments and interventions with clients, carers and families. As well as a clinical caseload, the post holder will have the opportunity to be involved in service development, research, teaching and training, depending on the applicant's interest. You will receive regular supervision and there is the opportunity for internal and external training opportunities. The service has active links with both Essex and Hertfordshire Clinical Psychology Training Programmes.

Main duties of the job
To provide a specialist Clinical Psychology service to adults with learning disabilities and service providers and carers within North East Essex, in particular to the Mid West Essex Community Team. To provide specialist psychological assessment and interventions, as well as offering advice and consultation on service users' psychological care to non-psychologist colleagues and other non-professional carers. To work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the team's policies and procedures. To use research skills for audit, service development and research. Contribute to identifying key areas and priorities for psychology service provision.

Qualifications
Essential
  • Doctoral level training in Clinical Psychology or approved equivalent.
  • Registered as a Clinical Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council.

Desirable
  • Post-doctoral training in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice.

Experience
Essential
  • Previous experience of working as a qualified Clinical Psychologist with significant experience with people with a learning disability.
  • Experience of working with a range of people, across the range of clinical severity in community and residential settings
  • Experience of working in team with multiple disciplines and managing complex inter-disciplinary situations.

Desirable
  • Experience in managing and leading service development projects.
  • Experience in providing psychological consultation to other service providers in the statutory, private and voluntary sectors.
