Our service has an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as a CYP-PT for (formally Recruit to Train Trainee), part of the NHS England (NHSE) funded Children and Young People (CYP) Psychological Training Programmes in partnership with Anna Freud/University College London.

This is a unique opportunity to apply your learning from weekly teaching into practical clinical interventions working with clients in the service making a direct impact in the lives of children, young people and their families.

Please note: The position will be based within the Hertfordshire MHST (part of HPFT)but successful candidates will be expected to travel to Anna Freud in Central London (Rodney St, N1 9JH) for teaching during the training year.

Main duties of the job
he post-holder will undertake training to deliver evidence-based interventions for children, young people and families in line with the CYP Psychological Trainings (CYP-PT) programme. This role combines employment within Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (HPFT) Mental Health Support Teams with postgraduate training at University College London (UCL), enabling the development of specialist skills in supporting autistic children and young people and/or those with learning disabilities.The successful candidate will manage a supervised training caseload while completing the academic and clinical requirements of the programme. Responsibilities include assessing referrals, formulating and delivering therapeutic interventions, evaluating outcomes, maintaining accurate clinical records, collecting outcome data and participating in multidisciplinary meetings. The post-holder will adapt communication and therapeutic approaches to meet individual needs and work collaboratively with families, schools, social care and other professionals to achieve positive outcomes.

This is a dual application process. Applicants must apply for both this post and the UCL training programme. The UCL Course Team will assess academic eligibility and liaise with the recruiting service during the recruitment process. A training place will only be offered to applicants who secure the post and meet university entry requirements.

Job responsibilities
The post-holder will undertake training to deliver evidence-based interventions for children, young people and families within the CYP Psychological Trainings programme. They will adapt therapeutic approaches to meet the needs of autistic children and young people and/or those with learning disabilities, working closely with families, education and social care professionals where appropriate.

Responsibilities include managing a supervised training caseload, assessing referrals, delivering and evaluating interventions, attending multi-disciplinary meetings, maintaining clinical records, collecting outcome data, and supporting care pathways. Travel may be required to university teaching, service bases and community settings.

Qualifications
Essential

• Qualifications that demonstrate a capacity to complete academic work at postgraduate diploma level.

Desirable

• Minimum second-class bachelor's degree from a UK University or an overseas qualification of an equivalent standard in a relevant subject (e.g., psychology, social work etc).
• OR Applicants who do not fulfil the academic criteria but with relevant professional experience are encouraged to apply and will be considered on a case- by-case basis.

Experience
Essential

• Experience working within a CBT framework and/or using CBT informed interventions (e.g., PWP, CWP, EMHP and Parent Trainer).
• Experience and knowledge of managing issues relating to risk and safeguarding children and young people.
• Knowledge and understanding of the key features and symptoms associated with autism and/or learning disabilities
• Knowledge and understanding of the unique challenges experienced by autistic children and young people and/or those with learning disabilities and their families.
• Ability to maintain accurate clinical records.
• 2 or more years' experience working within a children and young people's mental health setting, for example as a mental health worker
• 1 year or more of clinical competence and experience working with autistic individuals and/or people with learning disabilities.

Desirable

• Experience of multi-agency and/or multi-disciplinary working and liaising across internal & external agencies.
• Ability to work in a collaborative and respectful manner with children, young people, and their families.
• Ability to follow local policy and procedures (e.g., within a care pathway) and make proposals for change.
