Job summary

This post is advertised following the successful progression of previous registrars into Specialist Training programmes.

The successful candidate will join a dynamic and expanding ENT department, working at registrar level within a predominantly elective service. The role offers broad exposure to both adult and paediatric ENT across outpatient, inpatient, and surgical settings.

Outpatient activity includes scheduled clinics with dedicated capacity for Emergency Department referrals, alongside ad hoc urgent cases. Elective surgical work is primarily delivered through the Day Surgery Unit (DSU), with the post holder expected to participate in regular theatre lists (typically at least once per week) under consultant supervision.

Additional clinical opportunities, including weekend clinics and theatre lists, may be available via bank shifts.

The post holder will contribute to the provision of safe emergency ENT care and participate in the departmental on-call rota.

The Trust supports continuing professional development, annual appraisal, and revalidation. The department maintains close links with primary care, including GPwSI-led community ENT services in Hackney, and provides an electronic Advice and Guidance service to local GPs, to which the post holder will contribute on a designated weekday.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will:
  • Deliver high standards of clinical care
  • Undertake administrative duties related to patient care
  • Participate in audit and governance activities
  • Support teaching and supervision of junior staff and MDT colleagues
  • Engage in CPD, appraisal, and job planning
