Make a Difference to Children's Lives Through Better Hearing
The Newborn Hearing Screening Programme plays a vital role in identifying babies with hearing difficulties at the earliest possible stage, helping to ensure timely support and intervention. As Local Manager, you will lead a committed team of Hearing Screeners, delivering a high-quality screening service to approximately 5,500 babies each year across Hull and East Yorkshire. Screening is undertaken shortly after birth within the hospital setting and at local community clinics.
Previous experience within the NHSP and completion of Local Manager training would be advantageous; however, comprehensive training can be provided through the national NHSP e-learning programme, internal development opportunities, and external clinical assessment. Appointment to the post will be subject to the successful completion of the required training.
This is a 30-hour-per-week role, worked across four days, comprising three managerial days and one clinical screening day as part of the rota. Flexibility is essential, as the screening service operates seven days a week, including weekends and bank holidays. Current screener shifts are generally 7:00am to 3:00pm
This is an exciting opportunity to join a service that has a lasting impact on children and their families, while leading a dedicated team committed to delivering outstanding care and early intervention across our communities.

In addition to managing the service, you will undertake newborn hearing screens using specialist equipment, maintain accurate records, and work closely with parents, healthcare professionals and external partners to ensure an exceptional patient experience.
As the role may involve travel between screening sites and attendance at regional or national training events, a full driving licence and use of a car, or reasonable alternative means of transport, is essential.
