Job summary
We are excited to offer a fixed-term Band 5 Paediatric Dietitian maternity cover post. We are a small yet dedicated community paediatric dietetic team covering the East Riding of Yorkshire. Our service offers flexible working patterns, including virtual, telephone, and face-to-face clinical sessions.

We use telephone and video consultations and work closely with our multidisciplinary team via MS Teams to ensure safe and effective practice. We are looking for an enthusiastic candidate with a positive attitude who is as passionate about our work as we are. We work with a range of children, including those who are looked after and those who may have complex healthcare needs.

Our service covers one-to-one clinic sessions, telephone clinics, input into special schools, MDT meetings, and group education sessions. We work with a variety of clinical presentations, including allergies, nutritional support, very restrictive food intake, nutritional deficiencies, enteral feeding, and learning disabilities. The team is committed to training and keeping skills up to date so that we can be as specialist as possible within our area of practice.

We strive to provide excellent student training to A, B, and C placement students and work closely with universities and our Humber Dietetic colleagues.

For secondment opportunities, applicants must obtain approval from their substantive line manager prior to applying and evidence of this approval must be provided as part of the application process.

Main duties of the job
  • The post holder will provide a high standard of evidence-based therapeutic care while working within a specific service area. They will be responsible for their own autonomous practice and ensure that effective patient care is maintained.
  • To manage a mixed paediatric clinical caseload across a variety of clinical settings, delegating to Associate Practitioners and Dietetic Assistants where appropriate.
  • To provide routine clinical interventions for a range of paediatric dietetic conditions, including allergies, nutritional support, complex feeding needs, enteral feeding, and nutritional deficiencies.
  • To provide group education sessions as required.
  • To provide supervision and support to students.

Qualifications and Knowledge
Essential
  • A broad understanding of relevant policy, drivers and their application to clinical and service area
  • An understanding of relevant clinical practice/standards within identified clinical area of dietetics
  • A broad general knowledge of clinical dietetics
  • BSc(Hons) Dietetics or PG Dip Dietetics
  • Current professional registration with HCPC

Experience
Essential
  • Evidence of continuing professional development (CPD) e.g. developing specialist interests

Desirable
  • Evidence of post-registration professional practice

Skills and Competencies
Essential
  • Effective inter-personal skills
  • Able to demonstrate effective communication skills

Desirable
  • Ability to effectively commute between the organisations various sites
