Job summary
An opportunity has risen to join Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust (ICHT) Colposcopy Clinical Nurse Specialist Team on a fixed 12-month term.The role is ideal for a (British Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology) BSCCP-accredited practitioner who is keen to further develop their expertise in colposcopy and women's health within a dedicated and experienced team.

The ideal candidate will hold full BSCCP accreditation, have experience in gynaecology and/or women's health. Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills. Be motivated, flexible and able to work both independently and part of a multidisciplinary team. You will be expected to work collaboratively with clinicians and administrative staff and fellow gynaecology nurses.

You will be joining a supportive and highly experienced team committed to delivering high-quality colposcopy services and patient centred care.If you are interested in the post, you are encouraged to contact the Lead Nurse for the Colposcopy Services- Catherine Furey to arrange an informal discussion or visit.

Main duties of the job
  • Provide a high-quality assessment, diagnostic examination for women referred to the colposcopy service without direct medical supervision/independently but in accordance with local and BSCCP National Guidelines.
  • Act as a resource for women referred and clinical and administrative teams by provision of comprehensive advice, information, teaching within ICHT
  • To act as a resource for patients, GP's and colleagues with ICHT via telephone and email advice line.
  • Review patient diagnostic laboratory results, interpreting and actioning clinician instructions.
  • Contribute to formulating reports and clinical audit of own practice, service and outcomes.
  • Active involvement in the development of the Gynaecology service
  • Active involvement in improving patient pathway and experience

Education
Essential
  • Registered Nurse (Level 1)
  • Educated to postgraduate diploma/degree level or equivalent experience
  • Teaching or Mentorship course or equivalent experience
  • Smear sample taker training
  • BSCCP accredited Colposcopist

Desirable
  • Master's Degree
  • Leadership qualification
  • Gynaecology course
  • Non-medical prescribing qualification

Experience
Essential
  • Experience as an accredited nurse colposcopist
  • Research and audit to improve the quality of the service and patient care
  • Informal complaints resolution
  • Investigation and resolution of local incidents

Skills
Essential
  • Able to independently assess, diagnose and review patients referred to the Colposcopy service
  • Organisation, prioritisation and time management skills.
  • Able to manage difficult situations effectively
  • Analytical skills

Desirable
  • Basic counselling skills
