Job summary
We pride ourselves on delivering excellent care for adult patients with renal failure requiring acute and complex maintenance haemodialysis treatment. This exciting opportunity and offers unique dialysis, plasma exchange and filtration experience on high dependency patients.

We are seeking an inspirational Band 5 Staff Nurse who is passionate about joining an exceptional and dynamic multidisciplinary team. This is an exciting opportunity and as part of our team you will take on the fascinating and challenging role of becoming a renal nurse. You will play an integral role in maintaining and developing a centre of clinical excellence and work in an environment that meets the needs of both clients and team members.

You will ideally have at least 6 months post registration experience. A willingness to undertake training within the speciality is essential as relevant education and training will be provided by an excellent in-service training programme supported by an established Renal Education Team. We encourage all applicants to arrange an informal visit.
Main duties of the job
  • Carry out planned care for a group of patients without direct supervision including inpatient wards and units as required.
  • Ensure the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of evidence based, individualised patient care.
  • Assist and advise unregistered staff in the delivery of patient care.
  • Maintain accurate clinical observations of the patient and act accordingly.
  • Band 5 Nurses in possession of the renal course will have the ability to be in charge of a shift in the absence of band 8 or 7.
  • Organise one's own work load ensuring most effective use of time.
  • Assist in the orientation of new staff and students.
  • Ensure that nursing practices comply with Trust policies and procedures.
  • Assess the needs of patients, relatives and carers and provide them with information as requested.
  • Assist in the teaching and development of nursing assistants and students helping them to achieve their learning outcomes.
