Job summary
We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) to join our neuro-rehabilitation team. The post holder will provide high-quality assessment, diagnosis, and intervention for adults with acquired neurological conditions, including stroke, traumatic brain injury, progressive neurological disorders, and other complex presentations.You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, contributing to holistic, person-centred rehabilitation programmes that support communication, cognition, and swallowing, enabling individuals to maximise independence and quality of life.

Main duties of the job
Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess, diagnose, and manage adults with communication, cognitive-communication, and/or swallowing disorders resulting from neurological conditions.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate individualised, evidence-based treatment plans in collaboration with service users, families, and the multidisciplinary team.
  • Deliver therapy across a range of settings (e.g. inpatient, outpatient, community, home visits as appropriate).
  • Contribute to multidisciplinary goal setting, case discussions, and discharge planning.
  • Provide education, training, and advice to families, carers, and other professionals to support ongoing rehabilitation.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and professional clinical documentation in line with service and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in service development, audit, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Supervise, mentor, and support students, assistants, or junior colleagues as required.
  • Ensure practice is in line with professional standards, safeguarding policies, and relevant legislation.

Job responsibilities
Your Skills and Expertise:
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Speech and Language Therapy.
  • Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Experience working with young adults with complex neurological needs, including cerebral palsy (CP) and other lifelong neurological conditions.
  • Previous experience working with individuals with learning disabilities and/or autism spectrum disorder (ASD)
  • Experience working with adults with neurological conditions (e.g. stroke, brain injury, neurodegenerative disease).
  • Previously worked supporting individuals who use Augmentative and Alternative Communication (ACC), communication devices and other assistive communication technology
  • Knowledge and application of evidence-based assessment and intervention for communication and/or dysphagia in neuro-rehabilitation.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to manage a caseload independently and prioritise workload effectively.
  • Commitment to person-centred care and inclusive practice.
