Job summary
The Neurophysiology Department has an exciting opportunity for a newly qualified/graduate clinical physiologist in our highly regarded and forward-looking department to join a large team of physiologist, clinical scientist and Consultants, for a fixed term period of 3 years

We are a friendly department providing regional neurophysiology services across South east London and kent to patients of all ages, from a large range of specialities. The breadth of our clinical activity is rich and varied and we use the latest equipment and technology to support our practice.

The ideal candidate must:

• Be qualified, knowledgeable and skilled in Clinical Neurophysiology practise (including various modalities of EEGs, EPs and NCS)
• Be able to undertake interpretation of results and provision of reports
• Be passionate about service delivery and quality improvement
• Demonstrate great interpersonal and communication skills, working autonomously and as a part of the team, working collaboratively with others to ensure service needs are met

Main duties of the job
You will be required to provide,

Clinical Neurophysiological diagnostic services to patients of all ages, from a range of specialties suffering from a wide variety of medical disorders, including those which may be neurological and/or psychiatric in nature.

plan, perform and interpret a range of basic Neurophysiological investigations, to a high level of competence on patients of all ages - these may include: EEGs (paediatric, adult), sleep EEGsEvoked Potentials, Nerve Conduction Studies

Job responsibilities

• To provide Clinical Neurophysiological diagnostic services(EEG, EPS NCS) to patients of all ages, from a range of specialties suffering from a wide variety of medical disorders, including those which may be neurological and/or psychiatric in nature
• To maintain personal professional skills at the highest level.
• To develop and / or maintain a specific part of the specialty as agreed.
• To take responsibility for the planning, organisation, development and quality assurance of the service that the specific role applies to
• Work collaboratively on a day-to-day basis with others to ensure that the service needs are met.
• To undertake interpretation of results and provision of factual / technical reports to clinicians for all tests.
• To be competent in operating digital clinical systems with specialist software
• To carry out duties as requested by the Neurophysiology Manager

Person Specification
Education and Qualifications
Essential

• BSc (Hons) Clinical Physiology or BSc (Hons) Healthcare Science (Neurophysiology) or equivalent specialist training

Desirable

• ANS Part 1 and/or B-Tec/GNVQ (Neurophysiology) or equivalent.
• RCCP registration, ANS membership

Knowledge and Experience
Essential

• Basic grounding in Clinical Neurophysiology
• NHS experience
• Good knowledge and fluency in English language communications, writing and verbal

Desirable

• Interest in Epilepsy syndromes and other paroxysmal events

Skills and Competencies
Essential

• To perform range of neurophysiological tests
• Good computer skills and able to navigate thru clinical software applications
• To communicate with staff within the Multidisciplinary team
• To complete factual reports
