Job summary
The Band 5 rotational Occupational Therapy post offers newly qualified Occupational Therapists the opportunity of gaining experience in a variety of acute inpatient clinical settings including care of the elderly, stroke, specialist medicine and orthopaedics & surgery. The post holder will provide high quality occupational therapy assessments and interventions to a wide variety of patients in liaison with the multidisciplinary team and community partners.

Main duties of the job

• To be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of own clinical and professional work, including the management of patients in your care
• To undertake comprehensive occupational therapy assessments of patients with a range of health and social care needs for presentations including but not limited to; medical and respiratory pathologies, orthopaedic and musculoskeletal conditions, gastrointestinal conditions, frailty, falls and stroke
• To gather relevant medical, clinical and social information and analyse and interpret all information gained to guide intervention
• Formulate and deliver an occupational therapy treatment programme based on sound knowledge of evidence based practice and treatment options, using clinical assessment and reasoning skills
• To plan and implement individual and/or group interventions, in collaboration with patients, using graded activity to achieve their therapeutic goals

Qualifications
Essential

• HPCP registration
• Diploma/Degree in Occupational Therapy

Experience
Essential

• Use of functional assessment and activity analysis
• Application of the OT process

Desirable

• Experience of working within a multidisciplinary and/or occupational therapy team
• Experience of working with people in a health or social services environment

Skills
Essential

• Ability to complete goal setting, planning, intervention & evaluation as part of OT process
• Ability to complete functional assessments to support OT process
• Ability to prioritise, organise and delegate.

Desirable

• Ability to work as a team
• Ability to reflect and critically appraise own performance
