Job summaryThis is an exciting opportunity to work within the Older People's Memory Assessment Service in Leeds. The successful applicant will offer specialist neuropsychological assessment and formulation within a Memory Assessment Service (MAS) locality team alongside supervision, team consultation and training. An important part of this role will be to support professional colleagues to develop and use psychological thinking, skills and approaches in their work through contributing to memory MDT meetings and offering advice and consultation to colleagues in the care of service users living with cognitive impairment. The successful applicant will also provide clinical supervision for trainees and other psychological practitioners within OPS, and have the opportunity to line manage some psychological practitioners. Supervision for clinical work will be provided internally by staff with expertise and experience in the above areas of work. The postholder will be expected to work autonomously within their locality, although there is good support available from other psychologists working in the Memory Assessment Service and opportunities for CPD.
The role is advertised as 0.8 wte (30 hours per week)Enquiries are encouraged prior to application.

Main duties of the jobIn this role you will:
- Screen the appropriateness of neuropsychological assessment referrals and provide specialist neuropsychological assessment and formulation within the Memory Assessment Service.
- Contribute to memory MDT meetings to develop the psychological thinking, skills and approaches of multi-disciplinary team members.
- Offer advice and consultation in the care of service users living with cognitive impairment to clinical colleagues and non-professional carers.
- Facilitate team formulation with guidance and support for team members regarding psychological approaches to care plans where cognitive impairment is a significant factor.
- Provide clinical supervision to other psychological practitioners working in OPS.
- Take responsibility for line management of some psychological practitioners within OPS.
- Input into training initiatives to other professionals as required, and through links with the D.Clin Psych programme at the University of Leeds.
- Utilise evaluation, audit and research skills to contribute to continuous service and practice improvement within the service area.
- Work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the Care Group policies and procedures.

Person SpecificationQualificationsEssential- Doctoral level training in Clinical or Counselling Psychology (or equivalent prior to 1996) and HCPC registration as Practitioner Psychologist
- Formal training in supervision of other psychological practitioners
