Job summaryThe Clinical Educator for Preceptorship and AHP Pre-registration plays a key role within the Practice Learning and Development Team, supporting newly qualified practitioners (preceptees) and AHP learners across clinical services. The post holder works collaboratively with clinical teams, educators, and higher education institutions to enhance learning environments, promote inter-professional working, and ensure high-quality preceptorship and placement experiences. They contribute to the delivery of education programmes, skills training, and learner support while exercising professional autonomy, acting as a role model, and aligning practice with Trust values and workforce development strategies.
Main duties of the jobThe role involves co-designing, delivering, and evaluating the preceptorship programme, skills sessions, and learner forums for multidisciplinary staff, while supporting multiprofessional preceptees and AHP Pre-reg learners to identify learning needs and opportunities in practice. Key responsibilities include advising and supporting clinical teams and educators, responding to issues raised for example via Datix system, maintaining learner and Preceptee records and tracking systems, contributing to policy and service development, and utilising feedback and evaluations to improve learning quality and supporting team educational development and learner or preceptee action plans as required alongside the Professional Learning and Development Lead. The post holder builds effective relationships with stakeholders, represents the team at meetings as required, and uses advanced communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills to support workforce development, promote evidence-based practice, and ensure safe, high-quality patient care. They utilise presenting skills to co-facilitate development workshops and deliver session independently such as Preceptorship Awareness workshops.
