Job Summary
Join Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust as a Band 7 Patient Flow Coordinator in our Maternity service within Women’s Services. This permanent, cross-city role offers the opportunity to improve safety, efficiency and service user experience as part of a team providing 24/7 coverage.

You will manage induction of labour bookings, oversee elective caesarean section bookings and coordinate acute maternity flow. With the multidisciplinary team, you will assess risks and prioritise timely admission, transfer and discharge to the appropriate care setting. You will review daily staffing levels to support safe service provision, anticipate capacity pressures and escalate unresolved staffing and flow concerns to senior teams. You will provide specialist advice and visible clinical leadership, supporting compassionate care and informed choices. We seek an experienced maternity practitioner who communicates confidently and works effectively under pressure.

Why you should join our Team
Our Maternity team is committed to delivering high-quality, compassionate care to women and their families. We invest in training and development to help colleagues reach their full potential. You will contribute to audit, research, service metrics and patient feedback, implementing and evaluating improvements to care. The role also offers opportunities to support policy development and digital platforms within the CSU, working with colleagues and external partners to provide seamless care. Our work is guided by the Leeds Way values: patient-centred, collaborative, fair, accountable and empowered.

The Trust is committed to redeploying existing staff who are at risk. All adverts are subject to this policy and may be closed, delayed or removed while the process is completed. If shortlisting is delayed, please contact the named contact with any questions.

What you will bring to the role
  • Registered Midwife with a degree in Midwifery.
  • Experience across maternity care, including recent experience supporting women and families.
  • Experience of developing yourself and others and changing practice.
  • Continuing professional development and willingness to undertake further training.
  • Excellent communication skills, sensitive to emotive conversations and adaptable to the audience.
  • Exemplary maternity care skills and the ability to act as a clinical role model.
  • A flexible, motivated approach and strong relationships with colleagues and external partners.
  • Strong planning skills and the ability to prioritise flow under pressure and work without direct supervision.
  • Ability to analyse data and produce reports.
  • Desirable: a master’s degree or study towards one; knowledge and experience of national patient safety, NHS England and CQC priorities.
