Shortlisting Date: 24th November 2026
Interview Date: 8th-10th December 2026

We are looking to recruit enthusiastic and highly self-motivated individuals to join our Pharmacy team and to complete the Pharmacy Technician Training Programme Apprenticeship.

Your duties will be varied and will involve contributing to the delivery of pharmacy services across various sites within the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust whilst completing the requirements to meet the apprenticeship standard.

On completion of the Pharmacy Technician Training Programme, you will be required to register with the General Pharmaceutical Council.

Applicants must qualify for apprenticeship funding in order to be considered for this post. More information on eligibility criteria can be found at: Sway and Pharmacy Technician Training Programme (Apprenticeship Pathway) (Apprenticeship Funding eligibility information)

Why you should join our Team
You will be joining a team of pre-registration trainee Pharmacy Technicians rotating around each LTHT site and you will meet a wide range of people from lots of different backgrounds. Working closely with your fellow trainee pharmacy technicians and multi-disciplinary teams you will gain valuable knowledge and skills along the way.

Your duties will include working in our hospital inpatient and outpatient pharmacies, dispensing prescriptions and issuing prescribed items, contributing to all aspects of pharmaceutical stock control.

You will gain experience working on the hospital inpatient wards, delivering pharmacy ward-based services including taking patient medication histories and educating patients on their medicines. There will also be placements within other MMPS departments with a possibility of visiting other pharmacy organisations external to LTHT.

The post holder will be required to work evenings, weekends, and Bank Holidays on a rotational basis.

Leeds is a wonderful city to work in and LTHT is an organisation that puts its patients first and highly values and supports staff.

Pharmacy is a forward-thinking department that values the contribution of all our staff. MMPS is recognised in the organisation for its collaborative working, and we continuously support our workforce to develop their potential in delivering the best patient care.

Please note that if you are shortlisted you will be invited to a two-stage recruitment process. This will include a face-to-face interview and practical assessment(s). Job offers will be dependent on successful completion of both stages and eligibility to receive apprenticeship levy funding.

PLEASE NOTE: This is a closed job application. More information can be found here: Entry Level Roles Archives - Leeds Health and Care Academy

A link for applications will be sent following completion of entry level requirements.

If you are interested in exploring this opportunity further, please upload your details through Job Train, ensuring you provide your name, mobile number and email address. You will receive an email from Leeds Health and Care Talent Hub who will ask you to complete an expression of interest form and discuss what will happen next.

Interviews will be held 8th-10th December 2026.

What you will bring to the role
You will be required to work with different pharmacy teams whilst completing the apprenticeship. You will need to demonstrate that you are a team player, be a proactive learner and be able to plan and organise your own workload. You need to be flexible in your approach to work and have good attention to detail. Excellent communication skills, a professional attitude and patient centred approach are essential.

Please see the attached job description for further information about this vacancy.
