Job Summary
This exciting specialist role sits within Gynaecology Services at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and will lead the development and delivery of high-quality, compassionate and evidence-based care for women and families experiencing early pregnancy loss. The postholder will work across multidisciplinary teams to strengthen bereavement care, benchmark services against national standards, lead quality improvement and ensure learning from local, regional and national data is translated into meaningful improvements for patients.

The successful applicant will be a compassionate, motivated and proactive nurse with excellent communication, leadership and organisational skills. They will work collaboratively with service users, the Maternity Voices Partnership, third-sector organisations and regional and national networks to share best practice and improve care. This is an exciting opportunity to join Gynaecology Services at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust in a flagship role supporting the development of a dedicated Early Pregnancy Loss Nurse (EPLN). As a newly developing role, the successful applicant will have a unique opportunity to help shape the service, and make a meaningful difference to women and families experiencing loss in the earlier stage of pregnancy.

The role will work closely with colleagues across the Recurrent Miscarriage, Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit, and Termination of Pregnancy services at LTH, alongside the Trust and Maternity Bereavement Teams. This is an opportunity to develop strong partnerships and create a service that delivers outstanding, personalised care for patients and families at a particularly difficult time. What you will bring to the role
This is a 18.75-hour-per-week specialist role, and the successful applicant will bring a compassionate, focused and proactive approach to coordinating and improving care for women and families experiencing early pregnancy loss.

Key attributes and skills include:

• A passion for delivering compassionate, high-quality bereavement care.
• The ability to act as a designated lead and coordinator for women following early pregnancy loss.
• Excellent communication and advocacy skills to support women and families throughout their care.
• The ability to recognise and monitor psychological wellbeing and ensure appropriate referral or signposting for additional support.
• Experience of developing and delivering education to multidisciplinary teams.
• A commitment to listening to service users and using feedback to improve care.
• Knowledge of evidence-based practice and national bereavement standards.
• The ability to identify gaps in service provision and contribute to quality improvement.
• Experience of reviewing and developing guidelines and patient information.
• Strong collaborative skills and the ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams and specialist services.
