Job Summary
Are you an experienced Speech and Language Therapist looking to take the next step in your stroke career?

We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic Band 6 Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to join our Stroke Speech and Language Therapy team at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

This role offers the opportunity to work across the stroke pathway, supporting adults with complex communication and swallowing difficulties throughout rehabilitation. You will work alongside experienced Speech and Language Therapists, therapy colleagues, nurses and medical staff, playing a vital role in delivering high-quality, evidence-based stroke care and helping patients maximise recovery and independence.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys autonomous clinical practice, thrives within multidisciplinary teams and is passionate about person-centred rehabilitation. You will have opportunities to develop specialist skills in dysphagia and communication disorders, contribute to service development and quality improvement, and support the learning of students and junior colleagues.

What you will bring to the role
We are looking for a Speech and Language Therapist who is:

• HCPC registered, with relevant postgraduate clinical experience.
• Passionate about stroke rehabilitation and improving patient outcomes.
• Skilled in assessing and managing adults with communication and swallowing difficulties.
• Confident in managing a varied caseload and prioritising workload effectively.
• Able to work autonomously while contributing positively to multidisciplinary team working.
• Committed to evidence-based practice and continuing professional development.
• Enthusiastic about supporting students, junior staff and wider workforce development.
• A strong communicator who can adapt their approach for patients, carers and colleagues.
• Flexible, resilient and motivated to work within a busy clinical environment.
• Interested in service development, quality improvement and the future delivery of specialist stroke services.
