Job summaryAn exciting and challenging opportunity has arisen for a band 5 nurse who is a dynamic individual with excellent clinical skills and ED experience that would like to enhance their skills and progress to Band 6.
You will start on band 5 until your competencies have been completed where you will progress to band 6.Main duties of the jobThe successful candidate would take charge in the busy ED on a shift by shift basis under direct supervision of a band 6 and 7 nurse in addition to this will be provided with trainee band 6 competency document which will need to be completed before officially being employed as a band 6 nurse.
As a Trainee Band 6 nurse under supervision you will be responsible for the day to day flow of the department by ensuring the standards of care are met for children and their family / carers whilst in the emergency department, including delegation and deployment of the nursing team in the absence of a band 7.
Within this role you will be employed and paid as a band 5 nurse until you have completed all band 6 competencies* (Please see additional information)

Job responsibilitiesAs a registered childrens nurse the post holder will provide leadership in care to children, young people and their families in the emergency department
The post holder will be accountable and responsible for providing a high standard of child and family focused care.
To carry out care without direct supervision as part of the Emergency Department team and supervise juniors delivering care.
To communicate effectively with the multidisciplinary team.
Contribute towards the effective running of the department including patient safe and timely care.
