Job summaryWe are seeking to enhance the Perinatal Trauma and Loss Care Service (P-TLC) with an additional Adult Psychotherapist. We are looking for a clinician with a clear passion and interest in working with women and birthing people. The post will be 0.6 WTE, 22.5 hours a week.
P-TLC prides itself on being a collaborative, innovative and supportive team to work in. We are a team motivated to provide the best service to those in our communities. We provide countywide individual therapy to women and birthing people who have experienced trauma and / or loss through their maternity experience.
The service works closely with IAPT services, The Perinatal Community Mental Health Team and other mental health services to provide therapy for women and birthing people whose needs cannot be met by existing pathways in those services. We work collaboratively with ULTH Maternity Services to ensure good communication and high-quality care for those open to both P-TLC and maternity services.
We prioritise staff well-being and promote CPD. P-TLC has links with universities which provide opportunities to teach and support trainee clinical psychologists on placement. We pride ourselves on being a flexible employer; working hours and base pay are negotiable.
Main duties of the jobResponsible for the autonomous provision of psychotherapeutic intervention for clients under the care of P-TLC.
Carries a personal caseload and provides specialist psychological services to clients and to other agencies and professions. Supervises and supports the clinical work of other professions as required.
Provides a specialist psychological service (assessment, formulation and therapeutic intervention) for adults under the care of the P-TLC.
Undertakes audit and research activities if necessary, takes part in CPD and training, and adheres to professional and Trust guidelines.

Person SpecificationQualificationsEssential- Post graduate diploma in Adult Psychotherapy and Accreditation (or working towards accreditation) with BABCP/UKCP/BACP/ACAT.
Desirable- Further training in at least one (other) psychological therapy
ExperienceEssential- Experience of working with a variety of client groups and presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity including working with experiences of trauma and abuse.
- Experience in maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse, and the threat of physical abuse.
- Experience of exercising full clinical responsibility for clients' psychological care and treatment, as a lead professional and within the context of multidisciplinary teams
Desirable- Experience of working in other related fields, CMHT, CAMHS, Neuropsychology, learning disability.
SkillsEssential- Knowledge and skill in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment interventions
- Knowledge and skill in the delivery of theory and practice of specialised psychological therapies.
- Knowledge and skill in the practice of a wide range of psychological interventions in the treatment of patients with a broad range of mental health problems, such as PTSD, OCD, anxiety, depression, eating disorders.
- Ability to transfer complex concepts to individual levels. Ability to transfer problem solving, communication and personal development skills to individual client needs and abilities.
- Ability to develop excellent therapeutic relationship with service users.
- Good interpersonal skills in working with interdisciplinary teams
- Ability to communicate, both verbally and in writing, highly clinical and sensitive information to service users, medical professionals, families, carers and other professionals within and outside the NHS Trust.
- Accurate keyboard skills.
- The ability to frequently sit in a restricted position for long periods during appointments driving between work bases, including at night and in hazardous driving conditions and working at a computer.
- The ability to maintain prolonged and intense concentration and to multitask during client meetings, and when compiling reports
- Ability to cope with highly distressing or very emotional circumstances relating to clinical cases.
- The ability to deal with aggressive and challenging behaviour and verbal aggression.
- Willingness to work in diverse settings including hospitals, clinics, and clients' homes.
- Willingness to work in conditions where there may be exposure to cigarette smoke and unsanitary conditions.
- Ability to contain and deal with organisational stress
