Job summaryAs a result of the expansion of our team of pharmacists and the reconfiguration of the service, an opportunity exists to join a pro-active, well respected and forward thinking Pharmacy Team delivering high quality patient care and service to our patients across the two sites.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated pharmacist who is interested in consolidating their clinical and managerial expertise in the areas of haematology and oncology by joining our progressive pharmacy team. This role is a fixed term 1 year contract for maternity cover.
You will have experience in oncology &/or haemato-oncology and preferably will have some previous management experience, including service improvement/ development. You will be able to work independently, manage your own workload and have experience in managing / supporting staff.
Main duties of the jobKey activities include:
- Providing an Oncology Service, particularly focused on management of treatment toxicities
- Working as part of the multi-disciplinary team to implement change and develop new procedures and services
- Pre-assessing patients, reviewing test results and assessing their safety to proceed to treatment.
- Training and mentoring pharmacists and other health professionals.
- Follow up calls with patients to review side effects and ensure they have all the support they need.
A postgraduate training in clinical pharmacy and suitable experience in hospital, in the field of Oncology, Haematology is essential.
We will provide appropriate training to aid your personal and professional development, helping you to effectively act as a role model and mentor for junior staff.

All successful applicants will be required to complete our corporate trust induction once a start date had been agreed.
Following your corporate induction you will be expected to attend the Trusts 2-week Induction Programme for RNs, NAs, RMs, ODPs and Paramedics. The programme is full-time (please email mtw-tr.professionalstandards@nhs.net if this is problematic) and will involve travel to both Trust sites. The programme includes supernumerary shifts in the clinical area, classroom-based sessions and e-learning.

- Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council
- Post-graduate diploma or MSc in clinical pharmacy or equivalent
- 1 years Pre-Registration training
Desirable- Member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society
- Attendance at relevant study days/courses related to sterile production eg Leeds Aseptic Course
- GCP certificate
- Member of UKCPA
Experience/ KnowledgeEssential- At least 5 years post registration experience in hospital pharmacy
- Experience of delivering a high quality clinical pharmacy service
- Experience of managing and co-ordinating staff
- Experience of writing SOPs
- Experience of training staff
- Good understanding of the principles associated with 'A Guide to Good Manufacturing Practice',' Aseptic Dispensing for NHS Patients', 'Isolators for Pharmaceutical Applications' and all national, DoH and MHRA regulations concerning aseptic dispensing.
- Good clinical and pharmaceutical knowledge relating to promotion of high quality, effective and cost effective use of medicines
Desirable- Previous experience acting as tutor/supervisor for clinical pharmacy certificate/diploma or pre-registration pharmacists
- Qualified as an Educational Supervisor and/or Practice Supervisor
Skills-Essential- Ability to plan, prioritise and organise workload
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
