We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Midwife to join our team in the specialist Fetal Medicine Unit at St Mary's Hospital. As a specialist Fetal Medicine Midwife you will provide and coordinate care pathways to women and families experiencing fetal conditions and complications in pregnancy.

This is an exciting opportunity to work with a highly experienced and knowledgeable multidisciplinary team across maternity, obstetrics, neonates and genomics.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will be expected to:

• Develop and implement programes of evidenced based care planning for patient group and their families including reproductive health care.
• Develop personalised care plans.
• Ensure women and their families receive information in a sensitive way to enable them make an informed decision.
• Provide direct patientcare and have detailed clinical knowledge of the specialist area.
• Assist the Fetal Medicine team to ensure that high standards of quality of care are delivered & maintained.
• Assist consultants when performing invasive procedures including feticide
• Arrange and Co-ordinate with the multidisciplinary team intrauterine transfusion and red cells or platelets
• Arrange appropriate appointments for women choosing to terminate a pregnancy for medical reasons
• Enables women and family's choice and involvement and initiate appropriate action, acting as an advocate for the woman and her family
• Develop and maintain effective communication systems both withing and outside the Trust and create and environment that encourages open communication and trust.
• Ensure that child protection and vulnerable adult legislation is adhered to within own practice and service.

The Costs for a DBS
At Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT), roles that require a DBS check are subject to a cost recovery policy.
