Job summaryMayfield Surgery is looking for an enthusiastic Salaried GP to join our friendly, supportive and forward-thinking training practice in Roehampton, South West London.
This is a unique opportunity to combine traditional general practice with a dedicated leadership role for our well-established care home service. Working six sessions per week across Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, your job plan includes three routine clinical sessions, one duty doctor session and two protected care home ward rounds, providing an excellent balance of continuity, acute care and proactive medicine.
As the Clinical Lead for Sherwood Grange Care Home, you will work closely with an experienced multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, person-centred care to residents while helping shape and develop the service.
We are a CQC-rated Good training practice with approximately 6,600 patients, using modern systems including EMIS Web, Accurx Total Triage and Docman. We pride ourselves on being a genuinely supportive practice where clinicians are valued, daily peer support is the norm and professional development is encouraged.
The starting salary is

Main duties of the jobThe successful applicant will provide high-quality, patient-centred general practice care across six sessions per week, working Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. The role combines routine GP clinics with duty doctor responsibilities and a dedicated leadership role for our care home service at Sherwood Grange.
You will deliver proactive and reactive care to care home residents through two protected weekly ward rounds, working closely with the multidisciplinary team to support continuity of care, medication reviews and advance care planning. Alongside this, you will undertake routine consultations, participate in the practice duty rota, contribute to clinical governance and work collaboratively with our experienced team to provide safe, effective and compassionate care to our diverse patient population.

Job responsibilitiesWe are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Salaried GP to join our friendly, forward-thinking training practice for six sessions per week, working Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.
This role offers an excellent balance of routine general practice, urgent care and continuity through a dedicated Care Home Clinical Lead role. The successful applicant will provide high-quality, patient-centred care while contributing to the ongoing development of our services.
Clinical Responsibilities- Provide high-quality, evidence-based primary medical care to registered patients through face-to-face, telephone and online consultations.
- Undertake routine GP clinics, assessing, diagnosing and managing acute and long-term conditions.
- Participate in the practice duty doctor/triage rota for one protected session each week.
- Complete associated clinical administration including reviewing results, correspondence, prescriptions, referrals and clinical documentation.
- Maintain accurate, contemporaneous electronic medical records using EMIS Web.
- Participate in clinical governance, quality improvement and practice meetings.
Care Home Clinical Lead ResponsibilitiesAs the named Clinical Lead for Sherwood Grange Care Home, you will:
- Undertake two protected ward round sessions each week.
- Provide proactive and reactive medical care to care home residents.
- Lead medication reviews, anticipatory care planning and end-of-life care discussions where appropriate.
- Work collaboratively with care home staff, community teams and the wider multidisciplinary team to improve resident outcomes.
- Support service development, clinical quality improvement and efficient care pathways.
- Contribute to multidisciplinary meetings relating to care home residents.
- Ensure continuity of care through effective communication and clinical leadership.

Person SpecificationExperienceEssential- Experience of working as a GP within UK General Practice.

- Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team.

QualificationsEssential- Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC).
- Included on the NHS England Medical Performers List (or eligible for inclusion before commencement).
- MRCGP or equivalent qualification.
- Licensed to practise in the UK.
- Evidence of ongoing Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
- Eligible to work in the UK.
Desirable- Postgraduate qualification or additional training relevant to frailty, care of older people, palliative care or long-term condition management.
