Job Summary
The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) is looking to appoint a Chair to the Advisory Board on the Registration of Homeopathic Products (ABRHP).

The ABRHP advises the Licensing Authority on the safety and quality of homeopathic medicines for human use when a certificate of registration has been granted or applied for and the safety, quality and indication for use within the UK homeopathic tradition for homeopathic medicines for human use when a homeopathic marketing authorisation has been granted or applied for.

The Chair must be able to demonstrate the qualities, skills and experience to meet all the essential criteria for appointment.

Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential
  • The Chair must be able to demonstrate the qualities, skills and experience to meet all of the following essential criteria.
  • Be medically qualified and have a strong and current scientific background
  • Demonstrate an impartial perspective on the use of homeopathy and have an understanding of the importance of regulation of homeopathic medicines.
  • Have previous or current experience of high-level committee membership nationally or internationally
  • Be a skilled communicator.
  • Be able to assimilate complex scientific information at short notice; and provide formal and informal advice to the MHRA between meetings when required.
  • Be prepared to relinquish all personal and non-personal interests of a financial nature in the pharmaceutical industry
  • Be recognised by their peers as leaders in their field and/or be Fellows of the relevant Royal Colleges.

Desirable
  • Knowledge of homeopathy would be an advantage but not essential.
