Job SummaryWe are seeking an experienced and proactive
First Contact Physiotherapist (FCP) to join our
Primary Care Network (PCN) team.
This role is funded through the
Additional Roles Reimbursement Scheme (ARRS) and offers an excellent opportunity to work at the forefront of primary care transformation. You will provide expert
musculoskeletal (MSK) assessment and management to patients at the point of first contact across our member GP practices.
As part of a collaborative
PCN multidisciplinary team (MDT), you will play a key role in improving patient access, reducing GP workload, and delivering high-quality, integrated care within the community.
Main Duties of the Job- Act as a First Contact Practitioner, seeing patients with MSK conditions without prior GP referral
- Provide advanced assessment, diagnosis, and management of a wide range of MSK presentations
- Deliver evidence-based care, including self-management advice and rehabilitation plans
- Refer for investigations (e.g. imaging) and to secondary care or community services where appropriate
- Work across multiple practices within the PCN, supporting consistent, high-quality care
- Contribute to MDT working alongside GPs, pharmacists, social prescribers, and other ARRS roles
- Support service development and help embed the FCP model across the network
- Maintain accurate clinical records using SystmOne
About UsMewstone Primary Care Network has a list size of approximately 32,000 patients. The PCN practices are Church View Surgery, Wembury Surgery, Yealm Medical Practice and Dean Cross Surgery, the practices share the same ethos of supportive learning.Job ResponsibilitiesWe are looking for a Physiotherapist who:
- Has a Full UK Driving License
- Is HCPC-registered with a recognised Physiotherapy qualification
- Has significant experience in MSK clinical practice
- Has completed (or is working towards) FCP / Advanced Practice capabilities framework
- Demonstrates excellent clinical reasoning and autonomous decision-making
- Is confident working independently within a primary care setting
- Has strong communication skills and a patient-centred approach
- Is flexible and able to work across a network of practices, including Saturday mornings in line with Enhanced Access
Desirable Criteria- Previous experience working as an FCP within Primary Care / PCN
- Ability to undertake joint injections
- Experience contributing to service development or pathway redesign
- Knowledge of ARRS roles and integrated care systems
