ODP/Registered Nurse - Recovery | Basildon Hospital
Are you an enthusiastic Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) or Registered Nurse with a passion for recovery care? Join our integrated Theatres, Anaesthetics and Critical Care Team at Basildon Hospital and become part of a service dedicated to delivering exceptional patient care.

Our Day Surgery and Main Theatre services operate as one team across two sites, providing care for adult, paediatric and patients with additional needs. With seven operating theatres, dedicated day surgery units and a 24/7 service, we support a wide range of specialties including General Surgery, Breast, Vascular, Colorectal, Urology, ENT and Orthopaedics, as well as emergency and cancer services.

Working within Recovery, you will care for patients throughout the immediate post-operative period, ensuring safe, compassionate and effective care while working closely with multidisciplinary colleagues across theatres, anaesthetics and critical care. Main duties of the job
Following successful completion of a development programme, independently undertake the full range of clinical duties within the allocated area, delivering safe, effective and evidence-based patient care.

Ensure patients receive the highest possible standard of care, continuously evaluating and improving practice in line with current evidence and best practice guidance.

Regularly take charge of a clinical area, providing leadership, coordination and oversight of patient care and ward activities.

Work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team, fostering positive professional relationships and contributing to effective patient management.

Promote and implement best practice to ensure the timely delivery of safe, high-quality and patient-centred care.

Support service efficiency and continuous improvement by applying LEAN principles and making effective use of available resources.

Comply with all Trust and local policies, procedures, guidelines and relevant legislation, including NICE guidance and national quality initiatives.

Maintain up-to-date knowledge and mandatory training requirements, with particular regard to Clinical Practice, Health & Safety, Moving and Handling, COSHH, Basic Life Support (BLS), Fire Safety and Major Incident procedures.

Qualifications
Essential
  • Registered Operating Department Practitioner (HCPC) / Registered Nurse (NMC) with anaesthetic course.

Knowledge & Experience
Essential
  • Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary environment
  • Knowledge of clinical information management.
  • Adult/Child branch nurse training as appropriate to the post

Desirable
  • Previous experience of working within specialty area
