As a Pre-Assessment Nurse, you will be responsible for conducting comprehensive pre-operative nursing and medical assessments for patients undergoing a wide range of surgical procedures. Working closely with multidisciplinary colleagues, you will identify and address any factors that may impact a patient's fitness for surgery, ensuring they are medically optimised and fully informed ahead of admission.
You will coordinate investigations, review patient histories, provide education and support, and help deliver a seamless patient experience from assessment through to surgery. Main duties of the job- Conduct comprehensive pre-operative assessments for surgical patients
- Arrange, review & coordinate investigations & results prior to admission
- Liaise with anaesthetist & surgeons regarding medical concerns that may affect surgery
- Maintain accurate documentation & patients records
- Work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team to deliver safe & effective care
- Support service improvement, staff development and learning within the department
- Act in accordance with the NMC Code & Trust policies & procedures

QualificationsEssential- Registered Nurse on Part 1 or 12 of the NMC Register
- Consultation and Assessment Skills Course or willingness to undertake the course.
Desirable- Evidence of recent relevant study
Knowledge & ExperienceEssential- Demonstrable post-registration experience
- Experience of working within multidisciplinary team
Desirable- Pre-Assessment experience
Communication SkillsEssential- Good standard of English demonstrated through effective verbal & written communication
