Job summary
We are excited to offer a developmental Band 5-6 opportunity for an ambitious and motivated Podiatrist looking to progress into a Specialist Podiatrist role. This post is suitable for an experienced Band 5 Podiatrist who is keen to develop specialist skills and knowledge, with structured support and development towards achieving the full Band 6 competencies.

Candidates appointed at Band 5 will undertake an agreed development programme and progress to Band 6 upon successful achievement of the required competencies and objectives.

Main duties of the job
As part of our friendly and supportive Podiatry Team, you will have the opportunity to:

• Develop expertise in the assessment and management of high-risk foot conditions and complex wound care.
• Undertake nail surgery procedures and enhance your clinical skills through supported practice.
• Work across community and hospital settings, delivering high-quality podiatry care to diverse patient groups.
• Receive mentorship and support from experienced clinicians to develop your leadership, supervisory and service improvement skills.
• Contribute to service development and help shape the future of podiatry services within MPFT.

Qualifications and Training
Essential

• Degree level relevant professional qualification or equivalent.
• Registration with HCPC
• Relevant Specialist Post Graduate qualifications and/or /courses and/or /development (e.g. professionally recognised courses in a specialist area).

Desirable

• Evidence of further clinical study since graduation.

Experience
Essential

• Band 5 Developmental: Broad post-registration podiatry experience with evidence of developing specialist clinical skills and the ability to work towards autonomous specialist practice.

Desirable

• Experience of negotiation and conflict management in clinical situations.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
Essential

• Evidence of specialist clinical knowledge relevant to the post.
• Knowledge of relevant NSF's and NICE guidance. Understanding of wider NHS agenda and its application to the local context.
