Main duties of the job
Good communication skills and informed clinical judgement are vital to the role. It is imperative that you can provide evidence of working with people who have experienced a mental health problem and are able to demonstrate an understanding of how anxiety and depression present in Primary Care. You should have a real interest in helping people with anxiety and depression to achieve a level of recovery which will improve their overall wellbeing and day to day life.

You will join a team of CBT Therapists, Counsellors and Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners. You will be responsible for assessing patient suitability and delivering evidenced based CBT interventions. The post is managed and supervised within the IAPT service with some specialist supervision for Long Term Conditions.

Applicants should be BABCP accredited/working towards registration and have experience of working in Primary care mental health services for adults.

The service works core 9-5 hours but offers patient therapy between the hours of 8am-8pm Monday to Friday, and in future on Saturday mornings. Candidates should be prepared to work flexibly to meet service needs within these hours and to work a late shift on site one day per week. It is also expected that 60% of the working week will be office based and 40% worked remotely.

• Make decisions on the suitability of new referrals, identifying the most suitable service for the patient
• Formulate, implement and evaluate individual therapy programmes for patients

• Qualification from High Intensity IAPT/Talking Therapies (Post Graduate Diploma in CBT for working with adults) OR Equivalent: e.g. A recorded/registered doctoral level qualification in clinical or counselling psychology/ a recorded/registered qualification in one of the following - nursing, social work, occupational therapy, arts therapy or a psychological therapy plus further training which confers eligibility to apply for BABCP Accreditation. AND Significant experience working as a psychological therapy practitioner and demonstrating the competences as required. Provisional or full accreditation with a recognised professional body (e.g. BABCP/UKCP/BACP) or working towards accreditation with an agreement to achieve accreditation within 1 year of employment.
